I don't find it very offensive. I think some people do because 20 or 30 years ago 'retarded' was the politically correct term for people with dysfunctionally low IQs.
I have two clinical retards in one of my middle school classes and a couple of borderlines in my other classes and I don't find the term offensive.
Does anyone know what is the politically correct term for retards these day? It seems they have to develope a new one every five years once the old one becomes a common insult. |

Retard has never been a clinical, nor has it ever been a PC term. From the beginning it was an insult. Retarded was clinical, but not retard in the same way that mental was never a clinical term; it was an offensive slang that came from mentally retarded. |

The offensive word list was taken from a British newspaper, and the words were slang used in Britain. So they might not be familiar to any mongs, spastics or schizos from N. America. They were all words I was familiar with coming from the UK.
(They need to send the PC police over here to sort out the Korean dogs with all their "Mong mong mong"ing)

Absolutely goddam right! People are too thin skinned when it comes to being PC... Especially the femo-nazis..
FUnny though that gays call themselves f*gs, lesbians call themselves dykes, people of color call themselves black, or the "n" word, people of other ethnic origins call themselves wogs etc, but it's not ok to do that if you're not in that group so called, because you are considered by them to be exercising some kind of white supremasist, anglo-saxon, protestant attitude traditionally seen in the white, male-dominant paradigm. And for god's sake don't call a woman a girl or a chick or a lady. That will upset the feminists...We'll all just have to shut up.
