So they're definately going to bring "The Hobbit" to the big screen. With as much money as the LOTR trilogy made it was only a matter of time. But with complications between MGM and NewLine holding the distribution rights and publishing rights, it's nice to know they worked it all out.
Now the only question is if Peter Jackson will be back as director and if it'll be made in one or two segments....
I'm salivating right now like a rabid dog....

Not sure about the 2 segment thing. It would make them more money, but it would seems a little weird... |

IIRC, the reason The Hobbit wasn't made before, while LOTR was, was because Tolkien's son owned the rights to the former, but not the latter. |

I've always thought that the hobbit was a better story and now I'm psyched. |

I heard (a while ago), that Peter Jackson IS directing it. It had been in pre-production for a while. Pretty exciting, eh? I will admit-I am one of those LOTR enthusiasts, to the point that I love the stories and the films-I don't wear elf ears however!!
Anyone hear of this new ERAGON(or something to that effect) epic that is supposed to put LOTR to shame?? |

Peter Jackson IS interested in directing the film but as of right now he hasn't been officially contacted by MGM. You can read what he has to say about it in at interview he had with www.aintitcoolnews.com
I watched the Eragon trailer. I like what I see when Jeremy Ironis is on the screen, but eveything else feels like the quality of the Dungeons and Dragons movie. It doesn't look comparable to LOTR imo |

Oh, crap. Did I get all excited for nothing? What does this word mean exactly? Maybe? Kind of? Poorly? With good intentions but little ability to spell? |

Duh...it's french. In its original state "definate" means "ebsoluteley". During the late 20th century young Canadians coined the term "definately" combing the meaning "it will ebsoluteley happen" and "awesome!"
I felt this word best described my feelings at the time. |

Already been done in a ground-breaking animation/live action flick WAY back when (1977-8?)... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hobbit_(1977_film) But people are excited by recent flicks using the same/similar technology.
Go figure...
In fact, I would say the orignal Rankin/Bass production outshone all three of the recent efforts, and by quite a bit. And it was animation.

I think that's commonly called stupidity. However, not being stupid, I can't be certain.
I refer you to http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/definate.html and http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Definate
I tried to be open-minded and googled this crap... nada. |

Maybe. One thing for sure, it will bomb if it is inferior to what he has accomplished with the LOTR. People's expectations are quite high on this one. |
