The thais aren't going to be too happy about this. They are hyper-sensitive about their tourism industry. Afterall it is one of the countries largest industries.

Is this the first Westerner to have died in the troubles ?

Westerners staying away from Thailand means that lots of Thais bankrupt and/or starve.
