A good friend of mine who is French is interested in coming to Korea with me early next year to teach. Is this possible? I know that most of the adverts say they want native speakers only, but I know that I met people from France in Korea who were teaching English. She's 32, blonde and beautiful (of course) Wink , and has loads of experience teaching in various countries (South Africa, Japan, and Thailand). She's mostly taught French, though, not English. But she is fluent in English. Any possiblity of employment in the ROK?

Does she have her BA, or better yet, her MA (or the French equivalent)? Why doesn't she just come over and teach French? Several universities have French programs and hire native speaker instructors. If she had to, she could just teach French at an institute.

I doubt she could find work teaching English, but her prospects are good if she has degrees.

Unless she hold a bachelors degree from an APPROVED English speaking country AND she has a passport from an ENGLISH speaking country she cannot LEGALLY work as an English teacher in Korea.

If she is qualified (degree and passport from a French country or the Province of Quebec in Canada she can find a position as a French teacher at either a hakwon or one of the Uni's that offer French classes.

These are IMMIGRATION rules and if someone doesn't qualify, then they won't get a work visa.
