Assessment: Sigur Rs=heavy on angst(which is OK, I dig that) but very light on actual talent and musicality.

Verdict: Broken Social Scene, The Arcade Fire and Neutral Milk Hotel play in a league that the icelandics can't even batboy in.

Bygones.

Awww...somebody get their feelings hurt? It's OK. I like your little angsty whining band. They are very, very nice. ^^

They're not even angsty. I think you must have heard the wrong band or maybe you have wet whiteboy wax all up in your ears. ^_*^

The Flaming Lips, Grandaddy, and the Shins have been around for a while. All three are quite a bit better than BSS and Arcade Fire, the Lips for that "electro-rock" genre and Gradaddy for the lo-fi end of things. The Shins were great when they were actually working, but they haven't released jack for a while. Tossers. I find Arcade Fire kinda whiny and too much like Death Cab for Cutie. BSS had a nice track in that movie, Code 46.

I didn't know if either group was Canadian or not. Still don't care.

Last.fm is a cool internet radio program that plays things by genre or finds similar bands if you enter one you like. Free and cool, good for listening to while you're wasting time here or anywhere else on the net.

Put the pipe down, Sir.

Particularly when discussing the lips, who are utter shyte.

Will check out last.fm while you get your craniometry analysis done.

Cheers.

oiy.
I was in the Netherlands and watched BSS play at Lowlands music festival.
First off....let me say this: If ANY ANY ANY of you EVER go to a music festival in europe, make it lowlands...it's great...freakin' DIRTY but great.

Anyways, both my wife and I made BSS out top 2 priority (I wanted to see jose gonzalez...wife wanted Massive Attack).

I wasn't really a BIG fan of BSS with just the CD but dang, that live show really kicked ass. It was actually a bit too much for me (since I was........uhoh......) and I had to leave after only about 30mins. But really, it was gooooooood!!!

Believe it or not, I haven't heard much of the arcade fire. Great band name...that's all I know for certain.

Neutral milk hotel? Insanely good....whoa good! But well past the reality of the present music scene.

Oh boy.

You don't have to be high to enjoy music...what are you...Canadian? Maybe your criteria for good music should extend beyond Canadian "music" (Tragically Hip? Not exactly something to brag about, cuzzie bro) and things you can listen to stoned.

Oh well, what do you expect from a guy that lives in a trailer in America's backyard? Naff naff naff.

I have no idea what "craniometry" might be. Must be more of a necessity for it in Canada, what with all the penguin-humping and bad music they have up there. At least you can get free pills for your problems when you go back home.

Kato "I'm afraid the Flaming Lips are about past their prime..."

Spoken like a guy who drinks way too much Robitussin. Look dude, just because the Black Mask retired and OJ won't let you sleep on his couch anymore doesn't mean you have to take it out on a band you haven't listened to since "She Don't Use Jelly". Wayne Coyne was out starting a musical revolution when you were being concieved at the first Lollapalooza over an overpriced bottle of water.

The conclusions you have drawn are, well, I'm a bit concerned about your eyesight--I know you are perfectly intelligent and can read at an educated adult level, so it must be your eyesight. Must be. So let's try this...

Tell me when you can see the letters:

Lucky for me, then, that taste it subjective, but reading comprehension isn't. Meh, touche, I guess.

bedouin soundclash is just annoying.
the new pornographers from vancouver are pretty good.
metric is alright.
mstrkrft is pretty damn cool.
black mountain/pink mountaintops are freakin amazing!
buck 65 hasn't done anything recently, and i wish he'd hurry up and get some new sh!t out there!

Anyone seen the new episode of "Smith?"

One guy steals a car, and takes a Nickelback CD out of the player and throws it out the window.

Seriously, though. No one can compete with the UNC/UVA music scene. That is, until the big labels grab them and stick them on MTV... (Puke emoticon)
