I was curious to what I would have to do if I wanted to stay in Korea after my VISA was canceled. From what I'm aware of is that you have ten days to leave the country. Can you get an extension or would I have to leave the country then come back on a tourist visa. I'm American and I was wondering how long the tourist VISA lasted. From everyones experience what do you feel is the best way to do this (and the cheapest). Sad

AS an American the best choice is leave the country and apply for a tourist visa.

AS an American an entry stamp is only good for 30 days.
You can get 90 days with a tourist visa (takes 2 days or so at a Korean consulate anywhere in east or south east Asia).

Except for next week (Chuseok) you can usually get cheap seats for a few hundred k won to Taiwan, Manila, and HongKong.

You could also grab the bus/train to Busan and a boat to Japan on the cheap and have some fun with it.

If you were here on an E2 you cannot convert it to a tourist visa. You must leave the country and re-enter to change your status.
