They say it's not terrorism.
The excuses I've heard so far have been:
Lighting(not a cloud in the sky)
Fire
Human error

Of course, America and Canada are playing the blame game.

Why should we assume terrorism? Major blackouts have happened before.

Very cool picture btw.

No way it was terrorism.

Who died?

What would be the point?

As of this post, no explanation has been given.

I think a beaver chewed through a cable.

Are there any other kinds of beavers?!?!?!?!

Actually, just watching the BBC right now and the Americans are now blaming Canada for the blackout. Could be true!

Kinda funny though.

"Blame Canada" -South Park. Hilarious

You should have seen Detroit yesterday. A huge parking lot!

The latest word is that it was a trip in a wire near Cleveland. (First it was a plant in Ottawa, then lightning at a plant in Niagara Falls New York, then the wire in Ohio, then they blamed it on Michigan, and last I heard it was Ohio again). It's crazy how these systems are all so connected and when one goes out it fries the others. A news program tonight said that the power outage could have extended across all of N. America if someone in Pennsylvania hadn't seen it coming and disconnected their system from the other fried ones.

I thought it was terrorism when I first heard the power was out (sitting in my car outside of Detroit) though. That was because the radio was saying that there were fires at plants in Detroit, New York, and Toronto. That turned out to be an exaggeration since there was only smoke (some of the boards or grids frying I guess) and not huge flames.

50 million people were without power last night. That is more than the entire population of S. Korea. Craziness! The city I was in declared a state of emergency and imposed a 10:00 PM curfew. I retreated to my parent's house in the Cereal City this morning where power only flashed out momentarily.

If that is terrorism, I feel better already!!

Nothing more than an inconvenience. Kinda like a blizzard.

Blacking out NYC, and then using that as a tactical advantage to kill as many people as possible, that I can understand.
