hard topic. the album has to be otherwise perfect, save for one shitty track.
off the top of my head i'd say:
"fitter, happier, more productive" - radiohead, ok computer. sums up the zeitgeist of the 90's, sure, but is the one you always hafta skip.
"indian song" from elastica's self-titled album. thoroughly uninspiring.
track #1 from mystery machine's 10 speed (a little obscure, i guess). this is a cd-rom video track on an otherwise audio cd that makes the hugest screeching noises if played on a cd player.
"this is the land" - the bees, free the bees. like so many other terrible tracks, this one's seemingly stuck in the last position slot to fill space. great album, tho.

Well, if you like a two note piano lead ins, tambourine action, cheesy lyrics and ripped off Queen riffs - Rock On brother
|
I now have that song in my head. I love the bass part. It comes in on the half beat. I think the lyrics are cute - I think it was done tongue-in-cheek...cmon...an Indie band making a song about how it MUST be indie music. "She plays the drums, I'm on tambourine." The songs called "GLAMOROUS INDIE ROCK AND ROLL" ...when was indie EVER supposed to be glamourous?
I will rock on. What Queen riff did they rip off? I am entitled to have my own opinion and you are entitled to have your own. There is no such thing as a wrong opinion. Except in this case, where your opinion is clearly wrong.
Im just joking

Why can't people just post their opinions about music without jackasses coming on and "correcting" the other person's "wrong" opinions? That's so fucking lame.

Oh right. So, I guess Spinoza's gonna get on here next and agree that he had made a mistake earlier, and that it actually is a solid album from start to finish. Grumble, grumble.. idiot twahts.. |
I disagreed with his opinion, and stated my own. Where is the big deal and where did I say he was wrong? You're the moron that had to rip a guy for no reason. If Spinozza was so upset by it I'm sure he would of said something. Go back to typing up dumb assed posts without hitting the E key...too much time on your hands. |

Pet Sounds is the most overrated album of all time. It always makes the top 3 in 'best album ever' polls, but really it's insane how it's so revered. The Beach Boys have done some outstanding work, but Pet Sounds disappointed me. Sloop John B is good I say and the song that pops into my head straight away when I see that cover is 'Coroline No'.
Another overrated album: Revolver. Turkey track: Yellow Submarine. |

Album: Welcome to the Cruel World
Artist: Ben Harper
Track: Mama's got a girlfriend now.
Look, on it's own, maybe it's alright. It's the track placement that is just awful. |

System of a Down
Mezmerize
"This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song"
There's nothing particularily bad about this song. Just after a long day of listening to nothing but System and Daft Punk with a head full of LSD left my brain combining this song with a Daft Punk song. I couldn't get the abomination of a mix out of my head for days. I've never been able to listen to it since. The Daft Punk song came out unscathed. |

Hey, I resemble that remark!
Sloop John B is a great song. Does it fit in entirely with the 'concept' of Pet Sounds? Arguably not. Brian Wilson was just coming up with the idea of Pet Sounds while this song was in production. Even though it was not part of the Sounds concept --- and a cover to boot ---I don't feel it detracts from the overall feel of the album.
Now let's look at this album...
Within You Without You has to be the absolute worst piece of crap inflicted on any album. I'm sorry, but the sitar thing just ain't makin' it. I guess John and Paul had to throw George a bone. Within You Without You? Better off without it. |

I agree, gentlemen - and the fact that I forgot about it proves howw crap it is. It's George's worst song. Definitely an exzmple of 'the track you always skip'. I've nothing whatsoever against sitars and that kind of musical influnece - it's just a shyte, forgetable song.
I hate to say this, but I also think 'On the Run' (Pink Floyd, Dark side of the Moon) is one of those tracks. It's actually an excellent track and totally ahead of its time, but how many of us skip it to go quickly from 'Breathe' to 'Time'? |

| I shouldn't be too harsh on the sitar. The Beatles did well with it in Norwegian Wood, and the Stones used it to good effect in Paint It Black. But in the end, the sitar winds up mostly just being a gratuitous novelty instrument. "Hey, look at me. I'm enlightened!" |
