It's a tad harsh,but,dems the rules
Anyhoo, how else could they have gotten actors? They'd have to be on an F-type visa,be actual GIs(can they work?)or import them special. |

| Agreed. (Satori) This news comes as little surprise to those familiar with Korea, but it's difficult imagining Japan doing that, even were it some completely unknown film, let alone a mega-blockbuster. |

well i think they could get permission, especially with a movie studio supporting it. pisses me off really, the way the studio hung these dudes out to dry. i had the same thing happen to me, some lady asks me to be a model (it was dark) for "korea's biggest fashion designer" (cough) so I asked what she was gonna do about the visa issue and she was just like "hey, it's ok, you know, you can do what you wanna do" and I realized they weren't giving any thought to the issue which is dumb because they were obviously in desperate need for a waygookin. |

In Japan,how exactly self-owned is a visa?
Does it give one free-reign,much like an F-type? |

| I dunno, I guess some of those actors were desperate for fame. I think if I were approached I'd try to use a pseudonym and get paid in cash. That's probably not possible in the movie industry, which is probably why I wasn't asked to star in "Oldboy 2." But just like people who do privates, these actors knew they'd get pinched eventually. Why weren't they smarter about it? |

It seems to me the movie producers dropped the ball on this one. Surely the producer should at least pay their fines and return airfaires?
I really don't understand why Korean companies (this includes schools) are so sloppy about these things when it comes to hiring foreigners. Surely a large-budget movie producer could have sorted this out???
This is not a single-case issue, it happens with bizarre frequency. The case of the German DJ getting deported and the sexpo lingerie models being barred entry at the airport come to mind.
The Guru is right (as always), this would have never have happened in Japan. |

| What happened to the producers? I mean, when a hagwon hires people illegally, can't they be fined? Did the aritcle mention that at all? |

| I'm a little foggy on Article 20 of Koreas immigration law. What does it say about, oh, running a "Me No Yankee" T-shirt retail business on a visitor's or teaching visa? Fer instance. |
Yeah I wondered about that, too. I thought any money-making venture aside from what's listed on your visa was to be considered illegal and reprehensible.. |
Yep, just like home. |
