The LAST student to attempt to ddong chim me:

I heard the rappid pitter patter of giggling evil approaching from the rear. I turned 45 degrees to he left and grabbed his intercommected hands with my right hand. I snapped up my left hand grabbed the back of his stupid bowling ball sized head and then qickly turned right 135 degrees pivoting on my left heel. The former boy's feet did not touch the ground until he hit the drywall, 3m away.

He of course fell down and I towered over him and the rest of the class and hissed "whose next...."

The boy started to cry of course, at which point I called him Mary, and kicked him outta class.

I really needed a vacation some times.

Regarding the ddong chim, I have tried the solution you propsoed, not exactly as you have suggested, but close. The manager chewed me out for being "mean" to the students and I ended up looking like a worse fool than ever in front of the rest of the students. Rolling Eyes Usually it's just the really young students who do it now, and with them I just try things like, sitting down a lot. I know they are too young to know any better.

One solution I've found is to grab the offender and tickle the living " sheeite" out of them. Keep it up until they are on the verge of peeing themselves. They usually are not so eager to ddong chim me after that.
They can't call you a "meanie" for tickling. Laughing

One point I forgot to add to my pevious post:

If the waeguk shows initiative and goes out and buys his own copy of the text, take it from him immediately and accuse him of stealing it. Shocked This will give you a 'quasi-valid' excuse to terminate his employment on the 11th month. Evil or Very Mad

Incidently, hagwan owners regard the "ddong chim" as valuable training for your students. After all, how better to train young minds the proper level of respect to be shown to foreigners, especially since those young minds are destined to become future hagwan bosses!!!!!!!!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Wink
Cheers

I always grab the dong chimmer. Bend him over, and invite the class to take a shot. If it's on break, I invite all of the kids in the immediate area.

I hate being poked in the butt so much that once I grabbed an 8 year old's hand and twisted his arm till he cried and called me names, swore in Korean at me etc... well he didn't do it again but afterwards was more a pain in the butt in other ways... oh well...

1) Never allow the foreign teacher to communicate and coordinate with their Korean counterpart...
This leads to efficiency & other western evils...this cannot be tolerated.

2) Always invite foreigners out to dinner with staff on the evening of their last work day for the week....have them sit at another table so they cannot join in the reindeer games...

3) it would be impossible that the 45 year old black/hispanic/fat/ugly person is a good teacher.
The mothers ALL KNOW that only the young/thin/aryan looking are the best teachers.

4) Experience counts for nothing..where did you go to Uni?

5) Pay is optional as EFL-LAW is a myth....much like the tax man. It would be silly to think foreigners know their rights.

6) If possible lie to, make come ons, change contracts with your foreigner....its great fun, and perfectly legal

Wink

Stunted wookie- correct;
1)Avoid employing any teacher with prior experience in Korea. They'll be wise to your tricks before you pull them..always go for the bright eyed hapless newbie,- much easier to "derrek".
