Hi,

I just want to rant about something that's pissing me off. I'm am so fucking sick of people telling me I should go to the gym. I am not overweight, and am actually a skinny guy. Of course, I'd like to be more buffed, but I'm too lazy to work out. Still, I don't complain about being scrawny, so why should other people care? I drink a lot of water and am trying to eat healthily. I don't smoke and only drink on Friday nights.

The real kicker is that the people telling me to go to the gym don't actually appear to be in that great of shape even though they go to the gym regularly. Most people wouldn't tell an overweight person to hit the gym, so why is it okay to tell me, the slightly underweight? I am constantly getting unsolicited advice from people about my weight. If I biotched or moaned about it, fine. But I don't. So, back the *beep* off!

Okay, rant over.

Just say, "Do you always give advice when not asked for it?"

or "I'm sorry you don't like how I look. I look like my parents. I'm sorry that you wish all people looked like you. You should ask yourself why you feel this way".

Something like that.

Where are you living, and who is telling you to go to the gym?

That's weird; I'm pretty

(handsome)

skinny, and I've never been told I should go to the gym. "Please take me home with you" and "I bet you have a monster cock," yes; "you need to work out more," no.

Hey,

I live in Hong Kong. This is definitely a city of beautiful people. The expat crowd is quite posh. A lot of tanned, toned people. As for who is telling me to join a gym.... This would be coming from my 'friends'. But, it's nothing unique to this group of people. I've heard variations of the same thing my whole life from different people. Ex. You should eat more; if you want to gain weight you could try...., etc. I used to be self-conscious about it but as I've gotten older it's bothered me less and less. That's why it bugs me when other people mention it.

They'd probably be surprised to know it annoys me. I usually just laugh off the suggestions. I don't want to seem over-sensitive. And I'm not really; I can laugh at myself quite easily.

Anyway, thanks for the replies. I just wanted to blow off some steam. Oh, and one poster was right. I do look like my parents. I swear, two stick people got married and had kids! Although, they now are in their fifties and look quite good. No beer guts in my family.

Edit: Yeah, I have been told I am 'handsome', especially in Korea, but we know that means dick all. Ha ha ha.

Hong Kong is a city of beautiful people?

I only visited a couple of times, but it seems to me there was as many big fat people as beauties there, which actually does make it a city with a lot of beautiful people!

I'm overweight. I found it funny when In Taipei some kids would point this out, then I'd see their parents (who might be a bit older)... lot of fat adults there, too.

I guess the Chinese diet in not extremely healthy, and wealthier people are eating too much (junk food)?
