if i find a dog park for you, will you make me some mocha squares???? they sound damn good. Hell, I'll even build you a dog park.

I consider all of korea a dog park. I usually take my dog up the hill or river park and let her run.

What's all this about dog parks? Yes, it's off the topic, that's okay. But what's it in reference to? Because the poster above has a dog avatar? That's it? Confused I like dogs. I'm raising dogs. But I don't get it.

Best Regards,

Guru McSunnuvabitch

Yes, I also think that even though this thread is about coffee, talk about dog parks is also acceptable.

Smug bastard. You wait. I'll get evidence.

I also bet I am the only, only poster who saw that while it was up.

No, I saw it too. Just checked my history to see if I opened it in a separate window, but no. Anyway, that was a young man in that photo, not a wizened old Superguru.

I'm not convinced that guru is that old yet. But, you're right, it could've just been one of the family and what with them watching and all...

That does sound good! But I can understand why you can't eat'em at night. That probably would keep me up all night as well. That's why I have to limit the amount of coffee I drink and when I drink it. Say...I'll have 1-2 in the morning and one more after lunch and that's about it. If I drink tea or coffee any later than that then forget about a peaceful nights sleep.

Speaking of peaceful nights sleep, with North Korea being a jittery as all get out maybe they should cut back on the coffee consumption. Do they even get coffee? If so, I wonder what kind? Insta-commie-coffee? Laughing Come on guys, lets think of a few brands and slogans for North Korea Koffee! Help put those fingers on a coffee mug rather than a nuke trigger!

Little laura has two other threads (one in off-topic, the other in travel) about finding a dog park for her new pup.

Okay, maryb, the deal is: if you find me a dog park - or any kind of fenced in park where Daisy can run (a real fence, not those ones she can slip right through), I'll type out the recipe for you (or if you just really want it and have an oven.)

If you build me a dog park, I'll bake them for you once a month for the next four years. Take it or leave it.

Oh. Just read backwards a bit, found Xtchr's request. Well, all right then. Since you really want it:

Mocha Bars
1/4 cup instant coffee powder
1 Tablespoon boiling water
1/2 cup plus 3 Tablespoons butter, softened
1.25 cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teasoon vanilla
1.5 cups flour
1.5 cups pecans (Of course I use walnuts since I live far from Costco, the only place I've seen pecans here)
1 cup chocolate chips

Dissolve coffee in the tablespoon of water. Mixture will be thick.
Beat butter and sugar together in a large bowl until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla, and coffee. Stir in flour till blended. Stir in nuts and chocolate. Spread in greased 9x13" pan. Bake at 350 (180C.) about 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into whatever size bars you want, but do remember the caffeine content!

.... and the saga of my office espresso machine: the Saeco technician came round, but could not fix it in situ and so took it away to the workshop. Fingers crossed, soon back ...

Coffee?

I just make plunger coffee with whatever looks good at the supermarket. Since I quit smoking I've actually been drinking more tea than coffee.

Wangja, this saga is getting scary. I'm worried about that espresso machine now (for your sake.) But in the meantime I just came across this birthday card that made me think of you, the picture and the guy being a musician. Don't know if it'll cheer you up while you wait for your coffee. It made me laugh. (Yeah, yeah, this is another derailment of the thread, but whatever.)
