It is strange how different research comes up with different results within the 200 but the same universities always end up at the top.
From Arirang
Quote: |
Three Korean universities are ranked among the world's top 200.
This, according to the annual rankings of the London Times Higher Education Supplement, which surveyed more than 3,700 schools worldwide.
Seoul National University jumped 30 spots to rank 63rd while Korea University moved up 34 places to 150th.
The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, however, fell from 143rd place to 198th.
Harvard held on to its position as the world's number one followed by Cambridge and Oxford of Britain.
Last year's number two Massachusetts Institute of Technology fell to fourth place.

Here is the top 10.

not to crack on the OP, but these university rankings sure do get drug out a lot on these forums. and the Koreans seem to be very interested in them too. It's kinda funny how people take something as high-minded as an institue for learning and knowledge and use it as evidence in something as petty as an argument over whose country has a bigger d*ck.
I'd also like to add, USA #1! |

That would only be remakable were it not so.
In fact, that you do not have a monopoly on the top 11 is not to your credit. |

That being a very good example of this:

So think my students just before I warm up their backside with my patented-by-Buddhist-monks love stick.
(How do I know it is patented by Buddhist monks? Because it comes from a gift shop outside some temple, that's how. And now Mr. Wangja, are we going to compare size of love sticks? Hmmm?) |

I was actually surprised that the US has 7 of the top ten. And that Oxford wasn't #1.
For the record, my tiny, tiny, tiny Uni is always in the top four to seven in U.S News and World Report's rankings of US unis in its category. That, combined with my near-genius IQ, means you all truly are always wrong when I say you are.
Get it? Got it? Good!

Dude. That schtick ain't gonna fly with Michael. You can hardly deny basketball is an international sport, buddy.
Who's Tiger Woods?...scratch...Who's Babe Ruth?...scratch...Who's Wayne Gretsky?...scratch...And what the hell is a "soccer"???...scratch, SCRATCH, SCRATCH...
Has anyone from North America ever disparaged your heroes at darts?
Give it a rest, pal.
BTW: Do you think the Mets will make it to the World Series? I do.
P.S. I don't like the new ranking system because it takes my school out of the top 10--12 ain't good enough. I am searching for a better spin. |

"No Chair for Foreigner"
Quote: |
January 18, 2005 ㅡ He may be the president of GM Daewoo, but he is still an outsider in the Korean car industry. The Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association has decided that Nick Reilly, a Briton, cannot be the new chairman of the organization.
The automobile association's rule states that only Koreans can lead the industry grouping. Mr. Reilly has thus stepped aside to allow his vice president, Lee Young-kook, to head the organization.
"Mr. Reilly said he could not understand why in a globalized nation, whose president stresses free trade agreements, there is a rule that does not allow a foreigner to serve as chairman of the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association," a GM Daewoo official said yesterday. |
