Allan Quartermain was the main character in a popular nineteenth-century series of adventure novels written by Rider Haggard.

Yea, I was wondering who they were. They didn't ring a bell so when I saw the movie I had to figure out where they were from, to no avail.

I've heard of Bram Stoker's book but haven't read it. I guess I wasn't privy enough or lucky enough to read the other works during my American education Crying or Very sad

Here are some movies I'm forward to, wanting to see, and hopefully coming to Korea...

S.W.A.T.
American Wedding
Pirates of the Caribbean
Bend it Like Beckham
- is this coming over here?
Open Range
Freddy vs. Jason
- yea, I watched these as a kid. The actors in the cast are more high profile now. Robert Englund is back as Freddy Kreuger and Ken Kirzinger is Jason. I guess the actors are broke nowadays and/or they are hoping for windfalls from the box office.

I haven't heard much publicity on films such as:

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind - directed by George Clooney, starring Sam Rockwell as Chuck Berris. Also includes Drew Barrymore, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Fred Savage, Rutger Hauer, Kristen Wilson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt. Wow, what a cast!
Beyond Borders - with Angelina Jolie
Uptown Girls
Grind - with Ashton Kutcher, a story about opportunistic skateboarders.
The Medallion - Another Jackie Chan offering.
My Boss's Daughter - another Ashton Kutcher flick. Actually this one is getting good press.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico - Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Willem Dafoe, Johnny Depp, Ruben Blades. This movie is getting really good reviews.

"Bend It Like Beckham" has been out on video in Korea for at least six months, never saw it in theaters.

Couldn't believe when I started reading reviews in US papers for it a few weeks ago. That movie is old news.....

But, its really good. Check your local video store

This was actually a lot of fun. Anybody who was into the originals will enjoy the one. It felt very much like an 80s horror/gore flick and was a decent blending of the two series. You'll be surprised who you're rooting for. They should've used Kane Hodder for Jason, though. He's played him the most, and Ronnie Yu's "I want a more emotive actor for Jason" line was crap. Jason is Jason, no emotion needed.

I am so glad Robert Rodriguez is laying off the Spy Kids fluff and finally finishing the El Mariachi storyline. This one is looooong overdue. (Yes, I'm sure the Spy Kids movies helped pay for this - but still.)

Who is El Mariachi? I know what a Mariachi is but I've never heard the character. There have been other films?

Where are you seeing reviews for this? It doesn't get released in North America for another month, but I've been really eager to read some early reviews on it. I've scoured the net and I can't find any reviews, only previews and trailers.

This is the third installment of these movies. The others were El Mariachi (but did not have Antonio as the lead), and Desperado.

This movie just reeks of coolness. The third movie of this trilogy with Antonio, Salma, a hispanic looking Willem Dafoe. And then you throw in the uber-cool Johnny Depp and the grand-daddy of all things cool, Mickey Rourke. This is a casting directors dream.

I don't know if you have it in Korea right now, but "28 Days Later" is terrific!!!

28 days was released here back on July 17, but don't who carried it and for how long. The art house types are always here and gone within a few weeks.

Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean this weekend and wow was I entertained. Good job from Disney. Great action. This movie can be almost compared to Indiana Jones in terms of value. Can't wait to check out the DVD.

The week before I saw the In-Laws with Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks. Rather funny really. I recommend it.

My to-see list:

S.W.A.T. - Coming soon to Korea.
American Wedding
Open Range - is this any good? has anyone seen this?
Freddy vs. Jason - I'm anxiously awaiting this movie.
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
The Medallion - Another Jackie Chan offering.
My Boss's Daughter - another Ashton Kutcher flick. Actually this one is getting good press.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico

Can anyone tell me about Bulletproof Monk. Anything with Sean William Scott(?), the kid from the American Pie trilogy, has got to be questionable.

Also intersted in info about Thirteen.
