one win away from the big series..

Never in my life did I think I would see the Tigers in the series again (I was a wee lad in '84)..

You know when you have those "I can't believe I'm not home for this moments?.. I'm in agonizing pain over here...

The Tigers winning it all would be the biggest thing to happen to Detroit in decades.. MUCH bigger than the Red Wing and Piston parades of recent years.. just hopefully we won't start another celebratory trend like last time (burning cars)...

I was in Leningrad in '88 when the Dodgers won it all - missed Gibson's home run, Hershiser's pitching, Bob Costas dissing them as the worst lineup for a World Series team ever. I feel your pain.

I was in Korea for the first time when the Tigers took it in '84. My mom's been a Tiger fan since the '30s (her dad used to listen to them on the radio all the time).

I was in Windsor (just north of Detroit, on the other side of the Detroit river) when they won the World Cu... World Series. Oh boy the riots. Back in 1980, Detroit hosted the Republican convention and Detroit's slogan was "Detroit loves a good party!" People parodied that slogan (seen on tshirts) with "Detroit loves a good riot!"

When the season started I never thought I'd utter these words, "The Tigers are in the Series!!!!" I woke up the last two days at 5:30 to watch my beloved Tigers steamroll the A's. They are playing such great baseball right now, they look unbeatable. I was thinking just after they clinched that just making the playoffs was a huge victory. To me, the playoffs were the World Series. Now I want nothing else except for the Tigers to deliver a championship to a city that certianly deserves it. Of course I'd love to be there as I was in 1984, as a 9 year old, watching the game on TV with the sound off so we can listen to Ernie Harwell on the radio. Since coming to Korea, I've missed the Pistons championship and now this. Also missing what seems to be a great start to the U of M football season. Just hoping that TVU shows as much of the Series and as many Michigan games as possible, especially the last game of the year against OSU.

If anyone wants to go out and celebrate this week or during the series, give me an email. Always looking to hang out with new people, especially those from Michigan or those that have a love for Detroit sports teams

Let's Go Tigers!!!!!
Hail to the Victors!!!!!!!

David

Yeah, Ernie certainly was the voice of Tiger baseball. I remember numerous summers listening to him on the radio. I can hear him in my mind now.

Way to go, Tigers Exclamation

Ironic. In a year when the Pistons had the best regular season record in the NBA and the Wings has the best regular season in the NHL, it just might be that the Tigers are the team that comes through for MoTown. Go Tigers! Wolverines, too.

Not if they can't get passed surging Michigan!!!!!!!!! The team sucked when I was a student, and of course, now that I've graduated they start kickin some butt. Anyways, this thanksgiving is going to be nuts. Imagine: #1 vs. #2. Man, I wish I was home!

Yeah, go Tigers! I'm still in shock over this season. I never thought I'd be using the words "Tigers" and "World Series" in a positive sentance.
