http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6951629397402742053&q=north+korea+children

this is a discovery channel video about the children of n korea. as i am writing this i am debating whether to even post this topic. do not watch this is you want to sleep undisturbed tonight.

it is almost 45 minutes long. please if you are going to click on the link allow yourself time to view the entire show.

i feel so powerless. shocked. saddened. i am aware that some will slam me for expressing - attempting to express - my sadness. over the last week i have read more about the north than before. i have blown off the doom sayers and the flamers. this video makes me reconsider all i've thought this week.

to have been laughing over RaceTraitor's post just an hour or so ago.....

Wow, so flagwaver made your day, then North Korea ruined it shortly afterwards. It is the curse of the story, I tell you.

And what did racetraitor say that had you laughing?

I will never post anything controversial or even remotely funny again. I'll just try to fly under the radar from now on.

Dude, don't let the trolls bother you. Just do and post what the hell ever you want.

And with regards to the topic, the situation in NK doesn't surprise me. I knew all along that all the food and other aids were not going to the needy people. SK and other aid agencies should have cutt-off all the aids to NK a long time ago.

It's now only a matter of time before some NKorean with some common sense to blow away KJI.

OP

Can't watch it again, once is enough to make you want to find some way to support those kids and give them a place to live isn't it? I don't think there are any Korean aid agencies that can help them either (I may be wrong on this). It would be a wonderful feeling if we could donate some money and know for sure that kids like the ones in those videos would eat, sleep and have a decent education and a future with it because they need help just as much as any other starving kid in this world.

Relatedly, did anyone catch the North Korea documentary (by non-Korean filmmakers) that was aired on EBS a few months ago? The Korean title was Friends of Kim. The meat of the docu was a Venezualan (I think; don't kill me if he's Columbian or Peruvian or something) guy named Alejandro, who's a sympathizer for the DPRK, taking a bunch of foreigners across zee border on a propaganda trip. Problem is, half the tourists, including the documentary's director, are against the North's regime and lied to get on the tour. Damned if I know how, but an American journalist even got to go (his story makes up the conflict of the docu when he returns to his hotel room to find his computer disks missing and his laptop smashed to pieces).

Really, this is a fantastic documentary: both the funniest and most serious I've seen since the sublime Grizzly Man (and if you haven't seen that, get thee to ye illegale download programme).

I've been bigging up this documentary for many moons; surely someone else has seen it?

Useful to be reminded of the misery that 1 megalomaniac can wreak on millions of people. Kudos to the people who are risking their lives every day to expose him for the twisted SOB that he is.

If I get married, or should I say "when", cause it's looking fairly solid right now, I would like to adopt a North Korean child who is in trouble. Would that be possible?

That's highly unlikely unless he's/she's found a way over to S.K and even then there would probably be many S.K's who'd want to adopt him/her. I've discussed the N.K adoption thing with my hubby if N.K was ever smart enough to loosen up and b/c a reasonable country and actually allow adoption. These children are so starved and indoctrinated that if you'de adopt one he/she would probably be mentally stunted from lack of nutrition and/or hate you for your race. It's a complete waste in my book.

On the bright side, there are oodles of S.K children who'd love a home! Smile

Whilst it is undoubtedly disturbing seeing young & innocent children suffering, this is in no way a problem exclusive to North Korea.

Go to the worlds largest democracy; India and you will find the same thing in every city.
