Sorry to veer "off-topic" for a second, but NC seems to be under the mistaken impression that "its" sock asked me to refrain from PM'ing "it." However, "it" made no such request. I just wanted to make that clear for everyone reading.
I did send two PMs to NC after being asked not to ... but only because "it" made statements via PM that warranted a response.
In case anyone here is still interested, I won't be sending any future PMs to any of NC's socks.

I just don't want anyone to think I'm stalking NC or any of "its" alter egos. I guess I just have to accept the fact that Dave's is a free-for-all and respond to flames accordingly. |
I wouldn't worry. You've made a solid name for yourself in the Dave's community. No one is going to believe that you would do something creepy and insane. |

Unfortunately, I can't PM my accuser anymore. I don't want to be perceived as a creepy, sick harrasser.
I actually haven't PM'ed many people around here. Most of the PMs I've sent other posters were friendly, as I recall. I certainly don't make a habit of engaging in flamewars via PM. A few people have sent me nasty PMs and I told them -- out here on the boards -- that their messages were offensive. I reported Jinju's PMs to the mods because I felt he was abusing the service, and I thought reporting him was a better choice than exchanging insults via PM. I guess I was wrong?
Recently NC flamed me via PM for complaining too much, and in that PM he or she made other unjustified statements about me and my conduct here on these boards. I don't think my response to him or her was out of line. I also got a surprise PM from one of my old enemies a while back -- but it wasn't especially bad, and I thanked him for the (somewhat) helpful information ... so I doubt he's the one who complained about me to the mods.
There's really only one person I've had words with via PM, besides NC. I'm not going to make that exchange public now for the same reasons I didn't make it public then. However, I certainly didn't stalk that person. I had legitimate concerns about his or her conduct, which I feel I expressed in a reasonable way. That's all I'm going to say in a public forum ... but if someone contacts me via PM, I reserve the right to send a PM in response. (I promise I won't make light of the Holocaust or talk about wanting to eat someone's animal companion, though.)
