Quote:
Paris - The agency in charge of Paris-region hospitals on Saturday confirmed that the husband of a Muslim woman examined by a male gynaecologist had physically attacked the doctor, but refused to confirm allegations that the assault was motivated by religious extremism.

The AP-HP hospital agency said it had taken legal proceedings against the husband for an incident that occurred on the night of September 8 in the emergency service of an unnamed Paris hospital.

However the agency refused to endorse a statement by the professional association of French gynaecologists and obstetricians, who described the assault as a manifestation of "Muslim fundamentalism."

...

"Are male gynecologists and obstetricians going to have to be protected by the police from now on when they do their job?" the statement asked. "Will they have to go into hiding like philosophy teachers?" - Sapa-AFP

All abortion doctors all over "the USA"?

Including the OP, why must everything be stated in absolute stereotypes and superlatives on this board?

Mindmetoo didn't say all. You are just way too sensitive. I completely understood what he meant, even though there are very few muslims attacking gynacologists and very few Americans attacking abortion doctors.

Ah yes, the old "abortion doctor" chestnut.

The killing and attcking of a few abortion doctors (mostly by one man)- clearly means all christians everywhere and christianity over centuries can be written off.

Losing a debate? just pull the magic "abortion doctor" out your pocket.

Hospitals are dangerous places period. The staff and doctors working in casualty/A+E/ER are always at risk of being attacked by patients, particularly drug users, drunks and psychotic people. The early hours of Saturday and Sunday mornings are times when they particularly vulnerable.

This post is not meant as a defence of the attack BJWD mentioned - attacks of any kinds on health workers are intolerable in my book.

And Laogaiguk: you are just way too...(whatever. I am not going to go in circles with you and your obstinate density again). Frankly, I find you simplistic and just plain unimaginative, though.

The point is this: people are very careless with these kinds of staccato essensialistic (mis)statements on this board, and with transparent power- or definition-related motives as well. This includes finding a news story or op-ed piece and then heralding it here for all to see, as well as careless, essentialistic generalizations, always using the simple present tense (e.g., "water freezes at 32 degrees"; "the Earth revolves around the sun"; "the sun rises in the East"; "Republicans lie"; "Israel kills families"; "America backs and approves this..." it goes on and on).

Call me what you will, this point needs to be made and recognized here...

EDIT,
it's just not worth it. Anyways, it wasn't an insult, and I am most definitely not the first person to say so.

His sentence could have meant "2", you are the one who put the "ALL" into it.

I could find many more of these. You make the same bloody mistake all the time. You are just too sensitive.

Even if I am unimaginiative and simplistic (which isn't true, but then again you have accused me of anti-americanism, which I proved wrong, and then about always posting bad news articles, which I then proved wrong), atleast I am not a hypocrite, like you.

This thread is where Gopher said that I post only anti-american, nasty articles and the proof that I don't

This quote strikes me as unduly essentialistic.

I would modify it only to include the words "often," "some," and "tend to" however, as it is not an unreasonable observation at all, given recent events in the Middle East...

You are off-base on this one, and you have carelessly read it as well. I did bold the appropriate subject-verb construction to help you along, though, as, as I said, you are quite impossible to reason with on such issues as this...

I see nothing objectionable in what I wrote on this thread. And thanks for reminding me of your eighteen, emotionally-driven sarcastic smirks.

By the way, who is "whining" now? Who came onto this thread and attempted to turn the whole thing into a personal attack on me?

Quote:
Edited to remove two or three inappropriate words like "idiocy." I should not have written them and apologize. Will try to correct for this in future posts.

Just watch for the follow-up article reporting how the Muslim husband murdered his wife because she was violated by having been examined by a male gyn(a)ecologist.

oops - for a poster quick to point out others' linguistic deficiencies...you might like to polish up your spelling...

Or are you going to tell us that it was in fact meant as a pun? Wink

That's great, Interested.

He spells "anyway" "anyways" everytime he uses it. I mispell "whining" and you rush to the scene.

Good for you. But stay on your toes because, as you know, one good turn leads to another, and I might just be on the lookout for your grammatical/spelling/and other editorial errors from now on so that I can remind you that you, too, are imperfect...

He rushed you because you were attacking my spelling, not the fact that you made the mistake. Anyway, I will change my spelling since it is incorrect.

You are working on a teenagers level here Gopher. Attacking my spelling, question marks as "crazy" Rolling Eyes, using insults and trying to spin "how to use the search function" into me being obsessed with you. I said you were sensitive. I then said you were a hypocrite. Those are observations and not insults. Idiocy, dense, etc are just childish insults. I had no problem with simplistic and unimaginitive, as those are things mature people can say, though I disagreed with them, and considering you only post about one general subject in only one forum.... The other ones show why you seem to have had trouble with the moderators. You honestly think you are quite mature and high above many here, but you are usually the worst offender of everything you preach about, as I have showed. But for everyone, Gopher wrote this...

Gopher: again, as you, Laogaiguk, said, a strong tendency for news agencies to find and report mostly negative information.
Me: I showed that my last 4 articles before this happened were about Pluto, the Snowbirds in Canada, porn in hotels and a CNN reporter making a funny mistake.
Gopher: ...

Reply as you wish, I won't reply to it. Sometimes I learn useful things from your posts. But you are just as bad as anyone you attack, though I doubt you will ever see that.

EDIT
SOrry, forgot, what do you have to say to the actual problem, that Mindmetoo's sentence could have meant just 2 people, and that you put the "ALL" in it?
