Does anyone know of any hagwons in the Mapo-gu area of Seoul?
My ideal job, I think, would be in this area since I'm interested in attending Sogang's Korean language program. It would definitely be convenient to work and live close to the university. |

My impression of Mapo-gu, is that the whole area usually seems to be more geared to cater for the university crowd (Hongik, Sogang, Yonsei and Ewha universities) plus Sinchon are all in that vague area.
However, across the river a couple of stops by subway (on the south side) you hit hagwon central - Yeongdeungpo, Mokdong and Gangnam/Apgujeong/Daechi - all upscale areas where lots of ESL jobs, big schools and many foreigners are at the moment.
But if you wanted to stay on the north side of the river, Jongno would be the most obvious, centrally-located area where academies are plentiful (but apartments scarce). |

Thank you for this information. I suppose if I'm a few stops away on subway, that would still be very convenient. I'd have to factor in a couple of dollars worth of travel expenses into my Korean language program costs. Maybe that would add about $100 per 10 week session. |

Captain Corea,
Address, phone number, email, name of school... any of these will do if you have access to them.
I walked around Mapo-gu for several hours and couldn't find but the one called SLP. I didn't stray too far from the main roads, so that could account for my results. |
