|
|
Planning to go to HCMC from PP and was quoted 220 000won for a one way....there's no way I'll pay that much. I was told to wait until PP and buy it from there as it'd be cheaper, I am however worried flights will be overbooked since it'll be high season (mid december)....do you think there's a good chance to find flights anyways or is it better to try and find something before going?
Thanks for your help! |

Here's a tip:
Use the Mekong Express bus service that links PP with HCMC. The buses are fully airconditioned, have a toilet, and even have a 'flight attendent' who distrubutes snacks and drinks during the journey.
The company will pick you up from your guest house and deliver you to the bus terminal where you will depart from.
I used the service from PP to Siem Reap and would highly recommend it.
Probably run you no more than $20US. Your guest house or a local travel agent will arrange your tix. |

Why not just take an air con bus?
Either through Sinh Cafe in Vietnam or Capital Guest House in PP.
It takes half a day or so and will set you back a grand total of $6. |

Thank you both for your answers!..It does sound like the best way
do you guys know how long the journey is?
Also, is it possible to book it in advance in case we are asked to show proof of exit since we're flying on a one way from BKK...Or is that not a problem?
Thanks again |

I second Mekong Express and used them both from PP to HCM and PP to Siem Reap it's luxury but not expensive! TAke this and not the ordinary tourist buses. They give u a box with pastries for breakfast, awesome!!! |

The journey is not too long by bus. I remember having a bit of a holdup waiting for a ferry to cross the Mekong but that was the only problem.
I think it took the best part of a day including sitting around the border area waiting for our connecting bus to arrive from HCM city because it was late. |

Thank you all for your helpful replies. Considering we're pressed for time, wasting a whole day on a bus is not ideal, we're thinking of flying there. Anyone know what the prices are like? I found a few sites that quoted around 400$ I'm pretty sure they're cheaper than that...no way am I paying that much.
Anyone know where to go if we want to book it in advance?
Thanks again |

The bus for $6 relies on a connecting bus from Saigon.
If you take one that is $2 more it goes direct and saves you the 2 hour wait while the connecting one arrives. You leave PP at something like 7.30am and should be in Saigon by mid afternoon at the latest. |
