I was gonna bring one with me then I decided against it. Now i have been here a month and a half and haven't had to much of a desire to play video games. However, another poster mentioned his NES and it made start wondering again... Anyone seen what a 360 costs here, are the games region free? I saw what the games cost at the Lotte Mart but no price on the 360. Right now I am cool with my DS and New Super Mario brothers but I thought it'd be fun to here some 360 chat. |

At emart they were selling them for somewhere in the 400s. You may be able to get a mod chip put in so it can play any region games. Did this to the PS2. Only side effect, no more DVD playing. |

Last I heard, you can't mod-chip the XBox 360 like you could the original. |

I have an Xbox360. I can't say how much it costs because I bought back hen it first came out and the price may have gone down. Games tend to be around 40-60,000 won though at places like Emart and the selection doesn't tend to grow despite new games continually being released in America.
As for modding... most of the best xbox360 games are purchased for their XboxLive compatibility, since that's where alot of the fun is in a game like Ghost Recon. With the mod chip and copied games, you cannot go online... unless the switch is turned off, but then only non-copied games will be able to be played on Live so there isn't much point in modding.
To make having an xbox360 worth the purchase at all, you should get familiar with electronic markets like Yongsan. They do get in more titles (a few a week anyway) than other department stores like Emart. They also will sell you used copies for between 30-40 that they have been displaying on their monitors, so those are better deals. You'll also find that they import some Japanese games which are also compatible with the Korean Xbox360 so your variety increases that way as well.
As for playing Korean games themselves though... although the instruction manuals are in Korean, you'll find the dialogue in game and most of the onscreen text in English. The Japanese games, however, are mostly in Japanese. |

Got one a few months ago. For 350,000 I got the console, 14GB hard drive, headset, one wireless controller, one wired controller, and 1 game. Definitely worth it, though the rollout for games has been a bit slow here. |

Wow, 350,000? I am assuming you got in in Seoul. I have heard rumors that you can get modded Xboxs in markets if you know where to look. I have been meaning to take a saturday and go to Busan to look around for um. |

Not sure about Busan, but it's easy to get an original XboX modded in Seoul. Took the guy about 20 minutes. Now the 360, I'm not sure if the chip is available in Korea yet. |

You'd think with a city the size of Busan it'd be easy to find that stuff. I will have to take a trip to seoul during our next holiday |
