If anyone is planning travel to Beijing, one of my former students is starting a small travel service (at our insistence after traveling there ourselves). He's a Beijing native, studied here at Chonbuk Dae for a year, speaks moderate Korean and decent English. He got us great prices on hotels and market souvenirs, took us to the local noodle shops and temples... and now he has his license so he's willing to do car rentals to take people to sites out of the city. I've done Beijing twice, and having a cool kid around who really knows the city (and language) made for an awesome trip! Highly recommended, and any questions- send them my way! [email protected]
his email is [email protected]
He's still a student, so he's not always available, but worth checking out!
He also has a website with some cool stuff from China for sale (his father is a jade dealer so he has some pretty pricey artwork listed). He will be posting info on his travel service within the next few .

Happy travels,
