anybody else get caught by suprise by that thunderstorm last nite around 10:30 in Seoul?

I was sitting at home half watching tv when there was a very close lightning strike to my place. It caught me so off guard that for a second I thought the North was coming. For about 40 minutes there was a heck of a lightning show.

In all my years here, I've never seen a thunderstorm so late in the year, then again it has been a very warm fall

There was a great thunderstorm in Gwangju as well. Lights only flickered once. I was too lazy to find the matches and candles.

That one was crazy...if we're thinking of the same one it was at least in December. Maybe even later. I just remember walking home from school and some of the biggest snowflakes I've ever seen were falling and the sky was full of lightening. It was a really unbeleivable sight.

Me too for a split second. I was in a cab headed toward Gangnam and had quite a view of it.

When I was young, I used to make fun of my grandparents for talking about the weather. We had rain last night, Louise. Yep, we sure did. Yep.

It must have rolled southward from the north because I was in a bus from Seoul to Mokpo and it wasn't until 12am that we could even see raindrops on the windshield. But once we rolled in at about 12:40am, it was heavy rain.

...and have you seen the stuff that came down with the very brief storm? Check out any of the hoods on cars outside and you'll see - the air must have been as dirty as during the Spring hwangsa period...yuck... Yeah....the air has really been like pea soup lately - I cross the Han River daily, and most days it's not very clear, sadly...
