Whats an ETIK Job?

I'd be willing to bet the charming and talented Mr. Chronicpride meant EPIK. Typos happen.. Wink

I meant that as in ETIK Recruiting. They are an agency that tends to have gigs in the nooks and crannies of Korea. EPIK is a little different in spelling and their corporate purpose, but not much.

Ah. Well. I stand corrected then. Smile

i worked down around kwangju for three years. naju, like someone said, is halfway between kwangju and mokpo, not a bad place to be. because it's scenic down there, but only if you have a motorcycle. go south and there's mokpo. go west and there's the coast facing china. if you have a bike those coast roads and country secondary highways are empty and scenic. i just find being 'trapped' at a school without wheels is a drag.
kwangju has more than two million people. there is still a bar called 'the blue monkey'. blue as in 'sad' and monkey as in 'waegook'. there's another bar called the 'crazyhorse'. there are lots of foreign teachers like yourself in kwangju, and you'll want to get out of naju on the weekend because...
...it's just a small little place on the highway. it's famous for 'naju pears'. ok, but it's still a small little place and you'll go nuts if you stay there all the time, right? so you can meet people in kwangju. or go down to mokpo.
from mokpo you can get ferryboats to little islands and cheju (though it takes nine hours to cheju). i like mokpo a lot. there's a mountain in town you can hike up and see all around, the sea, islands in the distance. the harbour has fishing boats which look all rusted and rugged. the national maritime museum is there, and a 'natural history' museum beside it.
i met two foreigners who worked at a hagwon in naju one night at the blue monkey in kwangju. they commuted to kwangju for the weekend a lot. one was a she, kind of a giantess. and her coworker literally a dwarf from newfoundland. so they were 'freaky foreigners', but then 'what's freaky?'. they enjoyed their weekends away from naju.

It does look like you are taking the rural setting into factor.

I hope your school has the students, can pay you regularly, and that everything can go well.

I finally visited Gwanju this weekend. It was okay. I noticed 3 or 4 universities in the city. I didn't see many supermarkets or department stores. Hopefully Mokpo has those.

I believe I saw a road sign for an airport near Naru.

There are 3 major department stores in Kwangju. There are also countless supermarkets. Ther most noteworthy being Samsung Tesco Homeplus. As a Welshman you will know all about Tesco.

Ah Tesco's. Cheapness. Wonder if they do their own brand stuff there. Don't see why not.

Just opened a huge one where i live now.

Just applying for my visa and i have to pick it up from the embassy the day before or the day i leave for Korea. Just hope there are no mistakes.

I do think of myself as Welsh but feel more British. Lived in Hong Kong for 17yrs, my mums half English-half Canadian and my dads Welsh.
