For lunch today I disappeared for a couple hours so I could climb this mountain that's a couple blocks from my work. I ended up taking the difficult way up, and I was pretty surprised by what I found at the top.
Go have a look at the pretty pictures.

I thought you had found another hatch! I was going to call Locke and the rest of the gang, but no... |

I know it's in Poidong, and I just finally figured out the mountain is called Guryongsan. Still haven't figured out what Neungin Sunwon is supposed to be though. |

Nice pics. Interesting climb. Can you give a subway stop and directions to get to where you started from? I like taking the wilder routes when I can. |

Probably the best station is Yangjae. I could give you bus directions but the best way is to take a taxi to 능인 선원.
I'm looking for another mountain to climb again soon, probably Gwanaksan. |

Thanks for the pics.
I run almost everyday (when not hacking away at the treadmill or running Namsan), the length of the next mountain, Mt. Umyeonsan. It runs behind the Seoul Arts Center and I think the best spot to start is either by walking west from Yanjae station about 800m. Past the express way and then start climbing. Or also exit Sadang at the Western edge at exit 1. walk up the street and start climbing by going to your right and finding a path.
the western part is wilder but the whole mountain is huge. the southern side full of unique trails and an amazing ecological area. Also many bunkers and a very cozy looking military outpost at the highest point where you can snap a pic of a snappy looking MP. Cool mountain and right in the city.
After a long hike, head out at the Seoul Arts Centre and look at the great photo exhibit being held there now OR continue down the hill , into the city from there and get some real bread in the French district and some beer and mussels.
Cheers,
DD
