I'll answer this separately to make it easier to reply to.
1. How long have you been here?
2. How much longer do you plan on being here?
3. Where do you work? (uni/hagwon etc. or if unemployed, details)
4. Are you married to or in a serious relationship with a Korean?
5. Do you have children here?
6. How much Korean do you speak (self-assessment here, modest best guess)
7. How often do you consume alcoholic beverages?
8. What's your ratio of Korean friends/associates to foreigners? |

1) How long have you been here?
It will have been two years in October.
2) How much longer do you plan on being here?
Indefinitely.
3) Where do you work? (uni/hagwon etc. or if unemployed, details)
Right now unemployed; I'm a SAHM.
4) Are you married to or in a serious relationship with a Korean?
Married.
5) Do you have children here?
One daughter who's very cute but you must take my word for it, as our dig. cam. is having serious issues right now.
6) How much Korean do you speak (self-assessment here, modest best guess)
Hmm...my grasp of grammar is virtually non-existent but I have a pretty sizeable vocabulary and a lot of stock phrases. I can usually make Koreans understand what I want (or what I'm angry about as is often the case)...
7) How often do you consume alcoholic beverages?
Maybe once a week, but always at home.
What's your ratio of Korean friends/associates to foreigners?
Probably about 75-25. I have foreign friends in town but I just don't get to see them that much. |

1. Roughly three years.
2. Going back to the West soon, but coming back to Korea...eventually.
3. hakwon (mostly)
4. No
5. No
6. Basic phrases, enough to order food over the phone and travel around Korea on my own.
7. Once a month (and no that's not a typo)
8. Roughly 60%-40% Korean to foreign. |

1) 2 and a half years
2) No plans to leave
3) Uni
4) No
5) No
6) False beginner. Been through the first book from Yonsei, but on my
own. I'm going to start going to the free lessons at Soongmyoung.
7) I don't have a pattern. Prior to the Dave's Do's, none for 6 months. I
it to socialise, never for the hell of it.
8 ) I literally don't have any friends, korean or otherwise. I have
hibernated for 6 months. Hope to stay in touch with some of the Daves
crew I met at Yellow. |

Hey good questions Corp...
1)- About 2 years with a break in the middle.
2)-Indefinitely. At least another contract somewhere after this one finishes.
3)-Hagwon
4)-No
5)-No
6)-Poor but passable for basic situations. I am ashamed of myself about this.
7)-I drink every night but it's a minimal amount. Usually one bottle of beer or a glass of 'ju. I rarely get hammered.
8)Probably 80% Korean 20% foreign. I probably only have half a dozen friends here and most of them are pretty superficial. Eireely I probably have more enemies here. |

Hey good questions! I've actually watched postings on Dave's for over 2 years and just started posting more the last 3 months. It's interesting to know that there are some other people out there who are fairly similar to me.
1. 2 years, 3 months
2. 1 year, 3 months
3. 1 year uni, after that--hakwons. I think I'm the only person I've heard of that changed from a university job to a hakwon. However, it was better pay, and I wanted to see if I enjoyed the age group. I've found out that I just love teaching! The kids are lots of fun (most days).
4. married to another wae-gook
5. no kids
6. really low for my time here, but plenty enough for restaurants, taxis, and saying, "Don't pick your nose," to my students.
7. once every other month...maybe
8. 65%foreign, 35% korean |

Hey Justagirl....
How do you say "don't pick your nose" in Korean...?
Tougher question - My little Lets Go 1 kids like to try and shock me by picking each other's noses. So how would you say "Don't pick HIS nose"...?
Thanks. |

Answer to kiwi boy:
1. I am currently working as a translator/interpretor (Korean-English) as well as in search of a brand new gig in non-ESL field.
2. I have been a wanderer for the last 4 years: a little stint in Egypt (1 year and a half) and two years and a half in Canada.
