Just got back from seeing this with the missus. A throughly enjoyable film. Great story, plently of twists and turns, great performaces throughout. Best film i've seen this year. If you've got nothing special planned tomorrow check it out, you won't be disappointed.
2006 has been pretty p1ss poor for films this year in my opinion. Finally one that impressed me.
Has whetted my appetite for the upcoming 'Departed', 'Borat' (read somewhere that this will be released here), and topping the year off nicely with 'Casino Royale'. Daniel Craig looks like he's going to be a GREAT Bond.
Cool.

It was great until the ending. I really didn't have to have everything spelled out for me.
Bowie as Nikolai Tesla was a brilliant bit of casting. |

I guessed the ending before it happened. Wasn't trying to, though. (I won't reveal any spoilers). You're right, Paji eh Wong, Bowie was excellent, rather upstaged everyone nicely. Jackman was a little too understated in this one although I love him in almost anything. |

You guessed both twists? I knew the Jackman one right away, but didn't guess the last one until the final prison scene.
Sidenote:
This was the first movie I saw in a Korean theatre and was eerily creeped out by the Korean audience. Not a word was uttered. No one got up to use the restroom. No one crunched popcorn. Nothing. *Shivers* |

Downloaded (mininova.org) The Departed, and thought it was incredible--except for DiCaprio looking awkward as a tough-guy in a few scenes. |

the OP might want to edit the subject title to include a spoiler warning. Some of the posts give away quite a bit of the plot.
I enjoyed the film. It was far better than anything else playing at Megabox. The film really is like a magic show, lots of hocus-pocus, and good fun as long as you don't focus too much on how substantial the content is. |

It was a pretty good movie, but I'd need to watch it a second time to figure out what order everything takes place in. Tesla was badass in that movie and it would be interesting to see a story about him. |

Great story and I agree about Bowie's role being so well done. Never liked Jackman. Looks like I will be seeing and actually paying for a few movies over the next month or so.
Next up Departed and Children of Men.
Another cool one I saw a while ago was A Scanner Darkly which had some very suitable parts played by Robert Downey Jnr and Woody H. |

Was that David Bowie? Wow. I figured the guy was a twin but then the Tesla machine had me thinking the magician with the missing fingers was using the machine himself and killing himself in the first teleport box, much like crushing the bird. Every time he was reborn he either loved or didn't love his wife.
The last scene you see the guy in the water tank. Was a twin of him alive? Or was that a body that had yet to be disposed of?
My only issue with the movie is the whole plot needed an impossible machine. Or not.
Was Wolverine really just using a double and only killed him in the end? If so, what was the scene where he shot himself? Was that part of his own diary and a lie?
I think Criss Angel used the twin trick a couple times for teleport tricks. |
