There is some wisdom in that. I remember I worked for this one software company that was trying to meegook us on decent wages. The president showed us some business magazine article that rated us as one of the top small-to-medium-sized companies in Canada to work for. It was kind of used against us "What are y'all whining about?"
Later we found out he called the magazine, when he heard they were doing a survey, and told them a buncha crap that wasn't true about the benefits our company provided (like extended maternity leave for women... hello we were a software company... not a lot of women working for us... and certainly not many women you'd want to knock up... so the danger of having to pay out such an extended maternity leave was slim). |

I just checked. Korea is #26.
My wife's friend thinks it's not accurate. But she's an idiot. She's never been to a real developed country. She's comparing Korea to Philippines and Thailand. |
