Can anyone tell me where the best place is to visit in Kyong-ju? I mean, I know the whole place is an arboretum of sorts, with outdoor museums besides, but I want to get into the nature over there and wonder where to make a start. Bike riding, natural sights, swimming, etc.

Bulguksa temple followed by a leisurely hillside stroll to sokkuram grotto [apologies for the spelling and I have no idea how those names are Romanized these days]. It's not in Kyongju proper so you'll need to take a bus. In Kyongju proper there are all the usual suspects- my favorites were Anapchi pond and the museum. Great town for bike riding and there are a number of places for rentals that are easy to spot.

There is a really good bike rental place across the raod from the Bus Terminal. Just sit back and cruise around the city and out to Bulgaksa temple. Give yourself two days for a relaxing stay as the Bomun Lake area is quite beautiful too(if a little too touristy)

I find taxi fares outrageous in Kyeong-ju, and the buses are pricey as well. A bicycle would be a nice change. If you check out the expo, ask first how crowded it is inside. The clerks actually suggested that me and my friend not buy a ticket as the lineups were so long for the exhibits.

From memory, there's a tourist booth outside the train station and they spoke enough English to be able to give me directions and info. Definitely check out Bulguksa and Seokkurum grotto. Lots of mountains nearby for hiking. Enjoy!

it's around anapgi pond. across the street from there is that huge park. part of it lawn, with that observatory thing, the rest 'arboretum'. if you walk along the paths through the woods worn by feet is all, you can find pottery shards which are ancient. and walk the old fort wall. there's the little river and you can swim there, where a bridge once was in the old empire days, and jump off the big stones lodged there for bridge supports. it's sandy bottomed and up to your chest at its deepest. if it's a really hot day. there's an archery range in that big park, if you want to try.

There's also a bike rental shop right outside of the train station.
