I sympathise, it can be difficult sometimes...but you do need to get out of the situation. At this late stage I'd say your only real option is to run.
Start up again in Taiwan or somewhere new.
Alternatively, you can lay down some strict deadlines and stick to them; "pay me by _____ date" or whatever..
Anyone with a degree and teaching experience should never be that stuck for options in this world. |

He gave me some more dough. Not all of it. Just a few bones to keep me off his back.
Let's hope he doesn't pay me the rest by next payday. Then I will have an excuse to SIGH once again change jobs. |
I'd say you already have an excuse to change jobs.
Face it, you are this guy's dream employee. You'll put up with all his crap becuase you like the kids and the city you live in. |
Sadly, that has been true. I do like the kids and the city. I like the teaching structure, the other teachers, the people in my neighbourhood, the clean air, the cheap food, et al.
However good it is, however great my kids are, however great my life is, not being paid in full on time is the worse form of difficulties.
I know the guy has cash problems. I have seen people coming into his office demanding money he has borrowed. But his problems are becoming my problems which is not what I want.
He'll be minus a teacher in very short order if he doesn't smarten up. |

I saw screw the guy. Does he really deserve any special treatment from you? He has clearly broken the terms of your contract. He sounds shifty....like he's using you. He probably tells his buddies how he's schooling you and has a good laugh about it.
I think you owe it to yourself and the rest of the ESL community to teach this guy a lesson. Take whatever you can get your hands on that is worth money....do it right in front of him while he watches and say that it is for the compensation that is owed to you. Or take some legal action. This scum sucker is just going to take advantage of another teacher after you are gone. |

yeah, kyle hawkins is right. the boss is probably getting a laugh talking with his friends about how he's schooling you. hagwon bosses get together and chat. and i think there's some kind of college buddy system where guys help each other, invest in each other. the boss says you're like his brother, if you were like his brother you'd understand. well, that's nuts. he doesn't believe that. koreans have two sides, i heard this weekend from a guy living with a korean woman; the social protocol (which has the boss manipulating your head off), and the 'hanging out' 'dimension' (where koreans aren't chaste, but going at it like rabbits, as in the end of kiwiboy's poem, see thread 'waegook poetry'). in the hanging out dimension you are a shmuck, thinks the boss. i met this guy in taiwan. he worked illegally and lived in a downtown taipei hotel (which also lodged prostitutes) with a rat who'd slip under the door. he was 20, carefree, like 'peter frampton'. just himself. well, he couldn't stand all the pretend/phony politeness that carries on at the school he worked at. so he stopped and sat with these construction site guys who waved him over. chewing betel nut and drinking this crap whiskey taiwan has. they didn't speak english, he didn't speak chinese, but it sure brushed off the 'false front' free for all of superficial slickness from dealing with management, especially when he lived in a dump, right? i think you know this, whiner, that koreans blabber their heads off behind anyone's back. my boss and i have been at each other like sandpaper for five months, so the facades are off. i can see he tries to think of himself as a prince, like those hagwon captains who name their franchise AFTER THEMSELVES, like they're a confucious michael jackson. so can i be hurt if i see that he 'thinks' i'm a dumbass? that was under all the flower on the lapel appearances from the start.
you love the spontaneity at the heart of interacting with kids, me too. but i think the boss has to be worried you might leave at any time if you get too bugged by him. that's a foreigner's power. if you lend the boss money you're tied, right? one year contract, immigration and the boss can get a teacher fixed for no future visa and immediate deportment, if it's their fancy. whiner, your fly's open . the 'moral' of my little story here is; 'it's nice to be happy, but not HAPPY'. |

Sometimes you just have to turn off the parser and let the poetry flow over you. Like enjoying impressionist painting made with words...
I find myself enjoying the captain's rantyblocks. |

Whiner was it Kids Herald in Ilsan?
The reason I ask is that I was asking about that school, someone had done a midnight run, you said it was "for good reason"...I asked you to pm me and you never did.
Let us know what the name of the school is, if you could pretty please |

Well, basically he said this: "You will get all your money Wednesday. I am really sorry and it will not happen again."
Once he pays me, anything is possible. So please wait until then for further updates. |

No it's only repeats until the cast and crew make some more episodes. If you really are super interested in this little drama, re-read the thread.. |
