I just recently moved here and would like to hook up with some other musically-minded people interested in a little jamming, guitars, drum circles, whatever. Are there any kind of "open-mike" nights anywhere around here, or does one have to go to Itaewon? Anybody have something of a band together? That riverside park looks like a great place to chill on a Saturday afternoon/evening, sip on some cool refreshing bevvies, and hash out some tunes. Drop me an email if you've got some rythms to bust out...

Yes, there are. We're looking for a good piano player for a bar called Rockssin with an open stage in Anyang. I'm a drum player and teacher myself. Just cover tunes though, The Doors and so on; I haven't found anything serious to do yet as everybody I know will be gone in a year or two, and I'll be the only one left.
At those open-stage nights though you can tell why the people are English teachers and not professional musicians! |

I play the drums but I don't know if the Koreans like punk rock bands like Home Grown or Fenix TX. Pretty hard to actually play the drums in another country if you live in a box. But i am taking a drum pad out with me to practice on.
Music is good. What type of music do Koreans listen to? I lived in Hong Kong for 17 years and they had their own pop culture. Is it the same in Korea?

I have a synth and I'm working on some original RnB and reggae songs. I doubt any of you would be into it if you're rockers, and I'm pretty set in my ways too. And yes, I was a pro muso for a long time back home. Lost the touch a little bit after 3 years, but it comes back. |

>. It looks like i'm gonna be hunkered down here in Daejon for the next year. It would be cool to do some jamming with some like minded musicians & maybe work on putting a little act together for gigging around the city.
