I think the title says all I need to. They "preach" just as much. |

but do they come to you door offering free English lessons and then try to teach you about the angel Moroni? No? I didn't think so! |

Between this comment and the n-word thread, I am feeling eerily in sync with this artard. Not a feeling I relish, but the truth is the truth. |

But they're nowhere near as annoying as non-smokers, or even worse ... reformed ex-smokers. Scum. |

It's understandable that people wouldn't want to be reminded of the gory details involved in getting that steak on their plate... People who are partly guilty in the unnecessary killing of animals should occasionally be reminded of that fact (but you're right that excessive preaching can also be overkill -and counterproductive...) |

When I ate meat, I killed animals. Move along, move along. |

You murderers are all going to HELL when God judges your crass comments! To hell I say! Fire! Brimstone! Auditing! Fork up your butts! You'll all pay for your sinful ways! Then we'll all attend a crazy happy party & meet Alyssa.

Flesheaters can be so tiresome. I never preach to friends or acquaintances or people I meet about vegetarianism. I've never tried to convert anyone. I let people bring it up with me if they want to, and then I'll give them my reasons for being a vegetarian, if they inquire. And yet, so often when you politely explain (perhaps because you're going to eat together) that you're a vegetarian some jumped up flesheater gets all defensive and starts carrying on about it. Why do flesheaters feel so touchy? Is it some deeply held guilt? And then there are the dull witless ones who think they are awfully funny when they go "moo moooo" as they tuck into a steak, or tell you about how cruel it is to kill carrots. As if you haven't heard their dull gags a million times before... |

I think anyone who gets overly pushy about what they are preaching are annoying. I had a friend who loves to play Rugby. I like the game myself, played it for 4 years in University and all. With him the leaves breathes craps and farts Rugby 24 hours a day. Every conversation gets turned into a Rugby sort of thing. Hence why I rarely talk to him anymore. He got boring.
My new coworker is a bit of a Rugby nut, but he is pretty smart about it. He talks about a variety of other things that make it worth wanting to natter with him. On occasion we swap stories about Rugby, but not so frequently that it feels like you are in in the Holy Church of the Scrum.
Mormons don't bother me to much. Growing up around mormons made me realize they put their pants on the same way we do. I wouldn't put a Vegan in the same catergory as I would a Mormon though. Very few Vegans have actively tried to convert me to following their carrot eating ways. Here on the Dave's I have watched alot of Vegans take their lumps for standing behind their beliefs. Hell.. I have given out a few lumps to the Vegans myself.
When it comes right down to it my experiences with Vegans hasn't led me to believe that they feel the need to attempt to convert me to their noncorpse eating ways.
With the exception of R Teacher of course. But in his case he tries to convert you to worshipping an 8 armed fart gas vapor god first then hits you up with the vegan literature. |

I guess they have the right to convince people not to eat meat for various health and ethical reasons. And I suppose anything we can do to make killing tasty animals more humane is great 'n' all. But I basically don't mind if an animal given life to be bacon has to suffer a little so I can enjoy bacon. I really don't mind. |

Well, to be fair, there are a lot of preachy vegetarians. I wouldn't say a majority, but an annoyingly large minority.
I'm pretty far on the carnivorous side but trust me, I don't feel guilty. I think you're projecting. |

And let's not forget all those pesticides killing all those insects. Or reborn evolutionists as you might call them
Modern crop farming is not without its victims in the animal kingdom. How much habitat must be destroyed for evil tofu eating herbivores. If the crops are also covered in bone meal and cow pats does it still make you a vegan or vegetarian.
(I know a cow takes up more land and energy than a loaf of bread, I'm just saying theirs blood on your hands too, just not as much or as tasty as the blood on ours) |
