I am teaching an English camp in January. I will have about 12-15 students per 85 minute class, and will meet with each class either 2 or 3 times a week. I would like to have the students perform a play one week. I don't care if they memorize it or not, I just need the dialogues to be appropriate for middle schoolers, mostly 3rd grade students.

Has anyone ever tried doing this?

Can anyone recommend a good play to use in this situation?

Muchos gracias.

I did an English Drama camp in the summer.

I only had 3 days so I used Reader's Theater. Just type it into google and you will find lots. There are many interesting ones and the students don't have to memorize.

I also used lots of drama games as warmups/cool downs. Some good ones can be found on the BC Education website. Again type in "drama games" and you will find loads.

I hope this helps!

Cheers, Smile

And when you do find a suitable play or script, allot some time for them to make props or cheap paper costumes. I find Korean kids are generally better at art than Westerners, but maybe that is because all I can draw is stick men.

I thought crack was illegal in Korea?

Seriously tho, what Mr. Jackson said. Actually took his advice a few months ago about Reader's Theatre--worked great. They are well suited for camps. Maybe more prep time, but these might be the best set of lessons you ever do, as a lot of them are fun for the kids.
