I'm trying to buy a ticket from Busan to Seoul online but to do so it says I have to be a member. However, I've looked all over the site and can't seem to find out where or how to become a member. Does anyone have any experience with this site?
Many thanks in advance! |

Maybe you could just ask a Korean to do it for you? I doubt you need to buy one in advance, just show up and get it at the station. |

You have to get a Korean to do it for you, its all in korean (the application form i mean) then you get a card with a number and password, then you go here:
http://english.barota.com/en/main/eng_menu_frame.jsp
Log in and book your tickets!
I got mine by going with my co-teacher and having them fill out the paperwork. You used to be able to book a ticket and not pay for it until 15 minutes before the train left. Now the rules have changed a bit but i couldn't say how as I haven't used mine in a while.
Good luck! |

I'm not posting this to be a *beep* Have you checked the FAQs. This seems like it would be pretty important. If it isn't there, when we get an answer, the mods should add this in there. |

Figures. I don't know why I thought it would be easy.
So, to book a ticket in English I need to speak Korean. Brilliant.
Well, it looks like I'll be going to buy my ticket in person.
Thanks for the info. |

Are you talking about the barota site?
I think it is possible to become a member online, but I never worked out how to do it. I went to the train station and filled in some forms (had to show my passport), paid about W7000 (I think) and they gave me a Korail card with membership number etc. Since then I can book tickets online, but I don't have a Korean cash/money/debit(?) card to pay online, so I just pay in cash and pick up tickets a day or two beforehand (because I go past the railway station on the way to and from work so it's no problem). |
