i ran the seagate desktop which boots up instead of the bios and it detected both drives fine, it then did a test on both drives and the controllers and reported all ok. So it seems the drives are ok and so i am thinking it is not a hardware issue. I have noticed since i have installed the new bios in the IDE settings where once it said
SATA -AHCI (old setting)
it now says
SATA - RAID
do i need to change this? |
no. you want it as SATA-Raid.
What's the status on the second harddrive? |

okay something strange the second hard drive shows up in seagate desktop (which runs in DOS), it shows up in bios in the boot menu under harddrives option as one of the options to boot from. it also shows up as the only drive in the RAID bios menu (after pressing control A) after the screen which says startup F2 Boot F11 has gone. So the drive works has power and no errors according to seagate desktop.
one of the options in the RAID Bios menu was rebuild Raid Array, give it a shot? or any other ideas?

Blackjack - it's nice you met an honest nice businessman!
I was riding my mountain bike around Quanzhou one day and was about 10 miles form home when I lost some critical parts on my seat. i saw a bike shop and pointed and grunted to the dude what the issue was. he fixed it and wouldn't take any money for his work. I noticed it was lunch time and rode down the block and bought him a cold beer. After the 3 polite refusals he accepted the beer. |
