It sounded interesting until I started checking out the website.

The group putting this on isn't about Korean social issues; its website says it's about hate towards the U.S.

Note to the activists for Korean society: make a documentary about the prostitutes who burn to death in locked brothels because of their Korean pimps, or one about how the Korean people ignore the problems of the homeless or the physically or mentally handicapped people here, or about rampant, unchecked sexual discrimination against women in the workplace. Those are social issues. Maybe explore the self-righteous racism and blind, fevered nationalism.

Hate mongering hate mongers deserve to stew in their own self-righteous passive-aggressive hate. As for me, and probably most others, we prefer to try to lead productive lives, instead.

Hate mongering, whether it is against the Americans because they're Americans, Japanese because they're Japanese, Chinese for supposed parasites in kimchi, or the French because Brigette Bardot made a disparaging remark about dog soup, is a waste of time.

Korean people need to learn to forgive. Maybe Westerners that associate with them can help with this.

Hmmm...a documentary on forgiveness in Korean society?

Koreans being forgiving? Why should they forgive all those who have repressed their society and forced it into obscurity as opposed to the world recognition that they deserve...yeah, right. Rolling Eyes

While they're at it, why don't they do a documentary on all the jack shacks, bj salons, booking clubs, red light districts...and then try to make a claim that prostitution is only here in Korea because of the US Army. Where's the Army base in Anyang...or Juan?

Synopsis
The relocation and expansion of the US military base in Pyeongtaek, Saemangeum tidal flat embankment, Dr. Hwang's stem cell research, video horse race track, casinos in a dead mining town, workers struggling against labor casualization, conscientious objectors of mandatory military service, revision of the Private School Act, people's resistance to the APEC Summit and WTO Ministerial, the struggle of women peasants, the Korea-US Free Trade Agreement, the US military's strategic flexibility... Wow, half of those look anti-American. Tell ya what though, I'll download it and watch it - and reserve comment 'till after that.

Forgiveness? That's something Christ would do.
Wait a minute! Aren't most Koreans Christian? Very Happy

About a third.

There's a Korean base fairly close by, in the country. I got to tour a bit of their urban warfare training ground when I visited my ex-girlfriend's brother.

Ok, so far I've watched:

1) "Fisherpeople vs Land Reclamation"
Basically the people seem to think they are being pushed out of the land. I worry about any environmental damages, but as for the people, chances are they can adapt quicker than any other life form. If the fish are dissapearing (as in all over the world) and the Gov wants to make the land moreproductive, it seems like a plausible thing to me. It doesn't help that the arguements on the side of the "Fishers" were grossly exagerated.

2) "Part-time Bank Employee"
So a woman who only has a part time job is not satisfied... hmmm, shock there. She seems to have a self-defeating attitude. Maybe that's because of "the system" or maybe it's just her - either way, she's not really helping herself. Her dream is to become "rich", too bad she doesn't know what comes before that.

3) "Private Schools"
They alledge corruption - of that I have no doubt. But why not just boycott the places (teachers and students alike) and soon enough they'll go out of business.

*ok, that's all ofthis I can handle for today. Man, these vidos are, well... something.

That was perhaps the most bile filled rant against hate mongering I've read in a while.

As a U.S. citizen, I'm disappointed in the apparent assumption by many Americans that anything that can be interpreted as critical of the status quo is somehow anti-american and hateful. Pretty scary knee-jerk response. I didn't see anything hateful in the movie or the website.

If you aren't interested in the film and its perspectives, don't watch it. What are you so scared of? The "Reds"? The world is a bit more complex than a 1950's Cold War mentality would have us believe.

Saw half of the film. Turned it off because it got annoying.
Film should be renamed "Bored Housewives And Naive University Students Unite"
