What does this mean? What could this mean? Trouble getting hired again, even after my contract period is up? Trouble returning to Korea? I'm on an F-2-1 visa, so I think it's not as serious as if I was on just an E-2. I haven't done anything wrong, merely leaving just as the term is beginning, shame shame I know.

Anybody been in a similar situation, or know just what the repercussions of being fired & reported to Immigration are?

i quit a job at six months. the boss, i heard, told immigration i had hypertension and had to go back to canada to 'get it fixed' (lol). in that case the boss didn't like the 'deal' he got on my butt from a sly recruiter (boss got hosed). so he didn't like me. the next job i quit at the three month mark because the boss was an irrational ogress, and i don't like irrational oggresses. don't know what they told immigration. maybe, to hold face, that i was fired. who knows? anyway, the next job, apparently (who knows if it's the truth, maybe my boss is lying), immigration wouldn't hand out a one year E-2. instead, i got a 10 month'er. i'd be very careful to ensure immigration gets my pespective on a parting of ways, just so it's clear and they feel confident about flagging you in again.

Kirk, pay attention. He's talking about an F2 which is very different from an E2 thus your experience is not relevant.

The real answer is: there is nothing to worry about. An F2 pretty much gives the holder the same rights and abilities to hold employment as a citizen of Korea. The holder can show up, work half a shift, head out for lunch and then never return, and can do this every day for the rest of his life so long as they hold an F2 visa.

Plus since the F2 visa is sponsored by the spouse, only the spouse can decide to end it.

Quitting a job isn't illegal.

Gord dropped the ball here. Talk about not getting the whole story. Gord shame on you for missing this.

Answer no matter what really happened. It makes no difference. You can do just like Gord stated above. You're your wifes b..i..t..c..h ( that is a female dog reference and in no way a bad word) now.

That's what it is. My boss was ultimately sympathetic towards me and said he'd go to bat for me with the univ. administration. Complicating matters is my lush co-worker, w/whom the admin. is very upset with. So this comes at a bad time as they are probably lumping us together under the 'bad foreigner' label. Not that he's a bad guy either.

I really don't think it'll matter as I'm on an F-2-1.
