There are many, many EFL'ers who have come to Taiwan after slugging it out in Korea. However, I have never met anyone who has gone to Korea after working in Taiwan. The move would be retrogressive IMO. Ha, aha!!

I have met people who have come to Korea from Taiwan, and there are quite a few posters on this board who have made the same move (Captain Kirk, chi-chi, and Great Wall of Whiner come to mind). I'm not so sure that any of them would agree with your assessment.
I've also visited Taiwan (albeit only for a week). I have yet to be convinced that I've made the wrong move by coming here instead of Taiwan. But if things don't work out for me in Korea, Taiwan seems like a decent backup plan! |

I can't say much about Taiwan, I ain't never bin dere. But I can say that I agree that you should leave that school right away. You may be out a few bucks now, but if you stay longer you will most likely be out a lot of bucks plus you will have had to put up with the mental anguish of staying with a dictatorial fascist-styled boss who doesn't appreciate or deserve to have you working for him.
You may want to consider Japan, if you have enough money to get set up that is. I don't know, just another option.
China,, well, everyperson I have met who worked there said that they are about 10 times worse to deal with than Koreans (I don't know personally) but they also said that they enjoyed the country and the culture a LOT more. I suppose, if you know someone there, that would be a big help.
Whatever you do, I hope you have better luck in the future.
Cheers |

Japan - specifically Tokyo - is a great place to make a sh*t load of money if you are a go getter.
Nowhere in the EFL world can you make more money except in the M.E. maybe.
The bad thing about Japan are the set up costs.
A big deterrent right there.
But if you have the cash, I'd head over to Tokyo.
Tokyo has great infastructure as well and getting around for work and travel is really easy.
Again, like the Taiwanese, the Japanese are easier to live with. Not as friendly as the Taiwanese but definitely not as aggressive as the Koreans. However, the Japanse are pretty xenophobic as well. |
