|
|
After reading that thread about the break-in in some guy's apartment in Seoul, I've been asking around as to which are the "dangerous" areas in Seoul regarding break-ins and what-not.
As it turns out, I have been told that these areas on Line 1 are considered by Koreans to be unsafe, as they are poor areas of Seoul (Guro Gu, Yeondeungpo Gu, Dongdaemun Gu).
So, not only does Line 1 have the dirtiest and oldest trains, but it seems that a lot of stops on Line 1 are in the poor area range, and notice how all the main RLDs in Seoul are on Line 1 (Yeondeungpo, Cheongyangri), and how other RLDs are on Line 1 too, just south of Seoul (Pyeongtaek, Suwon).
So, any other undesirable areas of Seoul which are best avoided for fear of break-ins? |

I've heard of break-ins all over. I don't think there are really particular areas.
After personally experiencing a few incidents in more than one area of Seoul (including a break-in), my original opinion of Korea beiong a pretty safe place have gone downhill very quickly. |

Yeah, true, but I'm talking about areas that even Koreans would prefer to shun if giving the chance. Sorry for not being specific about this. |

It's a good place for fat white girls to go get hit on by desperate GIs and have fun and live it up hotty-style I guess, but I don't see much wrong with Itaewon. Wouldn't really want to live there because of the Nigerians and arabs all over the place, but I would hardly call it the armpit of Seoul.
Seen some areas in Seoul that look like squatter camps - terrifying stuff indeed. |

I pretty much know that I can stomp on the easiest street a Korean can walk on. |

You know some armpits are quite nice if deodarant is applied properly and if they are smoothly shaven....
Im with Rey on this one...Itaewon is not that bad. Great restaurants, fantastic shopping and someone is always willing to sell you a nice suit!
I have some friends that live there and it is one convienent place to stay when I visit Seoul. Once you got off the main strip its actually an affluent hood. We once saw a guy cutting his grass from my buddies roof. We all stared and watched him because it had been ages since any of us had seen a lawn mower. He laughed too!
But as for Itaewon princess, its your choice to stay or not after the sun goes down... |

I reserve my right to like who I want and what I want, and quite frankly I am not insecure enough to care as to whether they like me or not.
So where in Seoul do you stay, tuffnuts, Skid Row Gu? |

Not really fair. Your words are darker than Rey's. A god dam lot of people all over this world are uncomfortable around certain others. Cool? No. True? Yes. I've had friends who couldn't handle being surrounded by a different group. I think few people are comfortable with that. I struggle with discomfort in Asia too, always being the rare white guy. That's pretty common and a real source of complaint.
Comfort. "Silly" psychological comfort. You have it and so do I.
Consider that before you jump to confusions and name-calling. |

Guro really isn't that dangerous. It's a little more rustic than the rest of Seoul but there really isn't much of a nightlife, so if you stay away from rambling drunks you're totally safe.
That said, there was a serial arsonist active in my neighbourhood recently, and every once in a while I'll see a gang of undercover cops standing around now. |
