| Someone mentioned that if you do privates through your school, it's legal. Can anyone explain this a little more? So you're basically teaching one-on-one classes after/before your contract hours and the school gets a cut? Who arranges this, the school or you? If you arrange it, how do you approach your school about it? |

From what I understand you pay W60,000 and get some sort of a permit. I know there are legal ways to do it....Someone will have more knowledge then me, sorry.
What about not going through the school? Can I pay the W60,000 and go to the peoples houses to do privates?? |

Nope, what you are saying is incorrect.
An E2 holder cannot do that.
As for the OP, you can get your school to charge them and everying goes through the school. The question is, why would they pay you anything large?

| I belive that so long as you're on your school's campus, you can do whatever sort of English teaching you want. If you work for a hogwan, you may be able to arrange for your boss to get a cut and do them before or after work. |

The whole point of privates are that they are private and you get all the money. Your school is already using you for their gain why would you let them sponge your privates as well?  |

Oh ok, sorry I thought you could pay a fee then teach privates.
So if the school ok'd p.t work, I could go work some where legally, but it seems all the real money is in privates. |

The image of my boss sponging my privates has sorted out the great 'what am I having for dinner' debate. I won't be eating tonight.  |

I don't have any truly private lessons, but students will come in late in the evening to get extra help, and if I don't have classes/the K teachers are busy, I sometimes get asked to help them. I just did it because it seemed like the right thing to do-often they were being tutored in things that I originally taught them, and I'm under my contract hours of teaching anyway.
I've been doing it for about a month now, and my boss gave me a bonus. Bonuses are awesome! I'm buying a new bike. |
