OMG!!! I was told by my school that my apartment was ready to move into today. OK...so I leave my motel with 3 days left on my bill and go to this apt. When I get there, there is no bed, no TV, no washer, no phone...nothing. The floors were incredibly filthy and disgusting. It is supposed to be brand new? It looks llike 1000 people have been walking on that floor with their shoes on. The school is paying for another motel for me tonight, because I refused to stay in that mess. GEEZ!!! Everything was going so well, too. The school is new too and it's beautiful. My apt. is new??? Really???? When I complained the guy said "but you have been here 4 years, I thought you knew about Korea". I said yes, but I have never in my 4 years seen an apt. this bad. NO BED!!!!! What?? I am supposed to sleep on that filthy floor??????? I called my previous motel and told them maybe I will be coming back!

Maybe a "ready apt" means ready for you to move into ... in Korea, that would be synonymous with "ready for *you* to clean."

Look at it this way.....At least if you clean it yourself...you can be assured that it will be done right. Roll up your sleeves......

Seriously? Do you ever not bitch about something?

Could be worse. I moved into my new place, which was 'cleaned' and my wife and I had to wash it all over again...twice.

I think ready meant "ready for you to clean the place up" and move in.

You shouldn't have to do it though. Tell your boss to get a cleaner.

Maybe but I've never seen a place that filthy in my 4 years here. Not to mention the key missing things...like a bed for chrissakes!!! Maybe I was just lucky before??? Lucky for 4 years? There was also a scary filthy old rag that greeted me at the front door.

I really wish you'd stop referring to me as "a scary, filthy old rag."

Would you suck this up and not "complain" if you were in my shoes now? Would you not let them get you a 50,000 won hotel tonight, too??? Peole should stand up for themselves in this county. Choose your battles wisely. No bed is a battle to fight IMO. Especially since I was told it was all ready and set up. It's brand new, too, so it shouldn't be that filthy.

I said no way, they are coming to the motel with me tonight. he was just too lazy to take them back out to the car and drag them to the motel for me... Crying or Very sad Like I am THAT stupid to leave my bags back at some apartment while I go to a motel tonight. hey, I have designer clothes and valuables in there!!! Are you incapable of carrying your own bags? Doesn't sound like he was the lazy one.

I seem to remember you complaining for months on end that you couldn't find a job in Korea despite all of your experience. Maybe this is why. You act too much like a princess.

I agree with you that you should have the key things in your apartment. But what did your contract say? Did it say that your apartment was supposed to be furnished? If not, suck it up and go buy some furniture. If it's not in your contract, you should have been more careful.

As for a dirty apartment...well, that can be solved with a bit of cleaner and your own two hands.

We're getting these apartments for free...surely the least we can do is clean them when we move in. That being said, when you leave a contract you should be nice and clean it for the next person.

By the way, we don't need to know about all the designer items you have in your bag. We already know you are a princess. If you keep up this royal attitude with your boss, I can guarantee you that things are not going to go well for you.

I'm sorry that your short stature has somehow made it impossible for you to carry your own things. But if I didn't want to leave my things there then I would have carried my things myself.

No, this is not a FREE APARTMENT. It is part of your payment for services rendered otherwise you'd be getting a housing allowance and finding your own place.

It's time schools started realizing that they need to be more competitive and offer better housing to their employees.

I have NEVER moved into an apartment in Canada that was as filthy as my most recent apartment in Korea. And the bosses were "embarrassed" when I brought it to their attention. What a crock.

You're not a whiner. You want what you were promised... however you should have checked your contract and made sure it said 'furnished' and included all the necessary furnishing explicitly.

Anyone who makes a point of pointing out that they don't have just any clothes -designer clothes-and that they have not just any wallet -a 500,000원 Cartier wallet- to try and impress a bunch of strangers is pretty pathetic in my book.
