|
|
I filed last year and got a bit back due to dependents and deductions. My wife and two small ones were dependents and lots of medical expenses, prescriptions and cash receipts- check card and cc- as deductions.
This year, however, everything will change. The wife started working, and I mean just started- one month ago, so she must use all deductions with her name on them. This basically results in much less deductions for myself and many for which she will never use.
Anyone others with a Korean significant other in the same boat? |

For all those posts people spouting on about how great F2 visas are, how you can do privates legally blah, blah, blah.. I'd expect there would be a lot of them doing their taxes for that kind of work...

yeah but 'legal' F2 privates and E2 'illegal' privates still pay the same.
I don't see an F2 doing privates as a road to more money, I guess it may ease some people's conscience that they are only guilty of tax evasion, rather than visa violation AND tax evasion. |

It's not really about conscience, it's about not being busted for making the money. Sure, the two pay the same, but one gets deported, the other doesn't.
As for taxes, sure, if one is doing some privates, throw the gov't a bone to keep them away. Nothing wrong with spending a bit of money to make more.
The F2/F5 is a great visa and it has many advantages over the E2, no contest. |

These days so many people have an F2 visa. Crikey, what happened, everyone got married?

I don't feel guilty. It's payback. Payback for the years when even though I was married, had children who attended kindergarten, needed financial freedom to be able to get ahead for my family, I had to work for a middle man who owned my right to stay here with my family, I couldn't get insurance to gether with my family, nor a sizable family loan for an apartment, (and boom's over now) and couldn't get a subsidy for my kids' kindergarten fees, because I was a foreigner.
I had an opportunity to break in to the Mok-Dong area for a small study room during IMF. I couldn't do it because I was a foreigner. My wife couldn't do it in her name because we couldn't afford to hire the required 5 teachers to do a full-blown hakwon.
Now the tables have turned. I am getting ahead now. But, since I couldn't get in at the right time, unlike Bellum, the road, stemming from the original racism, has been made much longer and wearisome.
And, my Korean friends around me who did get in to the area I mentioned, after I had already wanted to do that, all became bloody rich!
Draconian anti-foreigner legislation;
I don't feel one iota guilty. |

You don't know me, you pompus a$$. I have been in Korea seven years.
Just because I don't choose to tell every moron on this board my private information doesn't mean I have none. Just to tell you: I am easily the most successful teacher in Korea. There is no doubt. The things you were talking about not being able to do....I did (in spades).
Regarding this:
yeah but 'legal' F2 privates and E2 'illegal' privates still pay the same.

---Wrong. Check the job boards and see the posts offering corporate jobs for F2 and F4. They will hire legal people for these jobs now because they can. The E2 visa people are not going to be getting them anymore. You can see for yourself. These jobs pay more than any tutoring...much more. |

You made some hakwons right at the beginning of the IMF aftermath, in Bundang.
We have been through all this before in other threads.
You don't state where the finacing came from, frankly if you didn't have finance OR ACCESS TO IT, you couldn't have done anything for your family to get ahead, too bad.
F%$ all of you anyway. I've been in Korea since 1997. (What, what was that, nine years?) 대학에서 한국어전공으로 줄업했거든, 한국어를 배우는거 94년에 시작했단말이야.. 엿먹어 십새기들. |
