Holy crap that's fast! I just picked some random TV episode to test since there wasn't anything that I wanted yet and it downloaded 346mb in 70secs. about 5.5 mb/s

Signed up and looking forward to some good downloading. Not many files on there right now though.

I'd like to upload files to these new torrent sites (do my bit and so on) but I always run into the same problem. They want the files compressed into 14.4mb chunks and accompanied with a text file. Both those tasks are new to me so, is it easy?

I don't get great download speeds from those sites. I'm sure they are faking their seeder and leecher ratios. When I go to a private tracker like uknova.com I can get 1.5mbps per file!!. Torrentspy and mininova never manage a tenth of that.

Oh, I don't know. I recently got 2.2 MB from torrentspy on a new episode of smallville. I regularly get in the hundreds of MB/s nowadays. However, that's not to discount your experiences. What works for some doesn't for others. Go where the speed is, I say.

Seems a bit strange that they enforce the 14.4MB rar files for non scene releases. Don't see why that is needed for personal rips.

I moved to high rise apartments just two weeks ago. My new internet connection by Hanafos seems to be the best I've had yet in Korea. No modem. I haven't really tried out Torrentspy since then. But my private tracker of choice, uknova.com, gave me 8mbps just a few days ago. That's a full DVD file in less than 20 minutes. I never got that from the public trackers.

Here you go: http://www.mininova.org/tor/513888

Try this public torrent from mininova. Fresh out of the oven, latest episode of survivor. I'd be interested to see what kind of speeds you 8MB/s dudes can get out of this.

coincdentally that's the same file I downloaded from the OP's link and it took only 70 secs. I've been waiting now for 2 minutes and it hasnt' even started downloading yet despite showing 1043 seeds and 3180 leeches.

I'm getting around 260 KB/s on that one. That's after around 10 minutes or so.

LOL... I shoulda grabbed it from there. I saw the 1 or 2 seeders and figured I'd get better speeds from eztv. I only averaged 66kB and maxed out on about 250kB (most of that was from a Korean ISP) or so but as you know, my line speed sucks the big one.

Thats the thing with public trackers; usually difficult to connect to high speed seeds. With the upload speeds you have, you should be increasing your upload slots to 100 or something and 1000 global max connections to maximise the chance of latching onto other leechers with high upload speeds. I can only have about 5-6 upload slots open. Sad

Still, it goes to show that you can get 'reasonable' speeds out of public trackers (I think 250kB/s is pretty good; my line is capped at max 400kB/s download anyhow)

when I downloaded it earlier today from the tracker in the op I finished it 70 seconds after starting it.

public trackers are slower than molasses in January.
