OK. Some sympathy please. I got paid 670,000 won for my part-time work in November before my real job begins in December. So my boss paid me the 670,000 today in a nice white envelope. I put it in my pocket and a few hours later lost it! All my money! And I mean all my money in this world! Man I feel stupid. So I email my brother. I already owe him a 1000 dollars (we're Canadian). Hopefully he can help. My new boss seems kind. So tomorrow I have to explain my stupidity. I am hoping for sympathy and an advance on a job that hasn't actually yet begun.
Got a better one anybody..... to prove you are stupider than me? Mine is pretty good, you must admit lol. |

Yeah, the problem with Korean currency is that the bills are so big. I can picture how all those bills in the envelope must have folded into collapse and then fall out of your pocket.
Put it this way, you made someone else's day. But I wouldn't count on an advance. |

Big BUMMER!
I guess it's times like that you have to get all philosophical about something as silly as money and say "easy come, easy go" or you're going to cry. |

I vote you are the stupidest person ever for two reasons:
1) You were stupid enough to lose your money
2) You were stupid enough to TELL PEOPLE how stupid you really are! |

Though you have had an unfortunate loss, you may want to rethink asking your future employer for an advance of any kind for obvious reasons (they may not be too obvious to some).
Your employer has been drawing many conclusions (accurate or not) about you, regardless of you asking for an advance. However, if you ask for an advance, you will be showing so many of your personal and professional weaknesses that you might want to take some time to seriously reconsider.
Do you want your employer to summize that you are on the financial "edge," that you do not have a "dime" to your name, or have a "weak" family/friend structure?
You will obviously do what you "want," but I truly hope you reconsider and look for an alternative solution that does not involve your employer in any way.
What would you expect your employer to say? By asking, you will only be putting him in an uncomfortable and ackward situation. Knowing that he needs a "teacher," his only option will be to help you, though he may not want to do so. Moreover, once you are indebted to him, your relationship will never be on "equal" ground (you likely be looking at a rough year, if you make it that long).
Take a personal loan from a family member, a friend, an advance on your plastic, or a small loan from your bank! Involving your employer is not the path to positive experience in Korea. |

In spite of his excessive use of "quotes" (which are a common sign of mental "illness"), Austin does raise some important points. The fewer favors you ask for from your boss, the fewer excuses he has to exploit you later on. Try to leave your boss out of it, unless you have no other option. |

Sympathy? You'll find it in the dictionary between "sh*t" & "syphilis"! Sorry, jajdude, but I've been waiting 10 months for a chance to use that one.... |

I'm sure a lot of people in Korea have lost some major dough before. In my case, I moved out of this room just a month after I moved in. The landlady promised to refund me my 500,000 won key money, and then never answered the phone thereafter.
I also once passed out at a nightclub after drinking too much, and had my wallet stolen. I'm sure one of the waiters did it.
We all err. |

Hey! It is better than naming myself Steve Buscemi...if you watched the movie, you would know he hated the nick Mr. Pink...so again it is for a humor thing. Sure pink might be the color for queers...but then again it is also the color of a lot of westerner's skin. Pinkish compared to yellow.
