I'm interested in getting a USB memory stick for my computer - does anyone have any idea how much I should be looking to pay for one of these at Technomart?
Perhaps 128mb? |

I would rather get an external HD case and then move an older smaller drive into it. This way I have 40GB or more of space and if you get firewire you have nothing to worry about speed. |

A hard drive that plugs into other computers. Not as small as a memory stick, but way more versatile. You can put copies of movies or whatever to bring to show students or your entire MP3 collection to a friends house. I have a 40gig drive in my external case at the moment. |

Case anywhere from 90,000 or so.
Drive -- depending on the size you want. I picked up a 120gig drive for 104,000 a few days ago (but I put that one in my computer). A 40 gig drive would cost somewhat less. |

Bit more pricey than I was aiming at, but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for the advice. |

I bought a great one for ridiculously cheap, like $35.
It's called the Sandisk Cruser Mini 128.
They also come out in 256 now. |

Some cheaper, some more expensive.
The cheaper ones are usually have USB 1.1. The newer ones have USB 2.0 and/or Firewire.
USB 1.1 is, I think 12 Mbs, while USB 2.0 is 480 Mbs, and old Firewire is 400 Mbs while new Firewire is 800 Mbs.
So, if you see a cheaper one, make sure it's at least USB 2.0. |

Right I was at TechnoMart today and was quoted about 180k for a 40gb hard drive with portable USB 2.0 case.
Think I'll go with that after the next paycheque. |
