Plug it in.
Seriously though, did you check to see that it's working when you bought it? We aren't dealing with a lot of information here. Specifics, man, specifics! |

Some non-swap mod chips report all DVD media being a game, so the PS2 tries to load it as a game instead of a movie. If you picked up a unit with one one those chips, you're S.O.L. for watching movies with it. You'll know if you have one of these units if you toss in a movie and you get a red screen saying "Please insert PlayStation 2 disc". |

Depends on the chip.
My Messiah2 chip is a switchable chip, which means I hold down the power button for fractionally longer (until the screen jumps a bit) then it can read PS1 and DVD movies perfectly. If I hold it down completely, then I can switch the chip off.

Had my PS2 modded many years ago in Korea. When it was done, the dude gave me a disc titled "Action Replay" (something something). I would put that disc in then choose which region for my DVD. Never had a problem. See if the dude in the store knows about the Action Replay disc. |

older chips required action replay, newer ones dont.
watching dvds on your ps2 will ensure your lens has a shorter lifespan. personally I use my ps2 for games only.... |

I just turn mine on and off about three times if it is not reading properly. After that it is fine. Same with copied games. |

I bought a PS2 here in Korea and had the same problem. Don't fret, it'll work! Try holding the power button down for three seconds, releasing for a second, and holding it in again.
It takes a couple of tries sometimes but I've always been able to get it to work.
Good Luck |

Mine does that every time I put on a DVD, but, without fail, it reads it fine when I open and close the tray again. I recommend the OP try that.

The PS2 will explode from playing such a ridiculous title.. :)
Just kidding, it should do fine if the mod has been done right.
