I know it's still really early but I'm gonna start this thread anyway!

The announcement trailer and the lineup trailer have both been released, go check em out if you haven't yet!

What are your guys thoughts on the new 3DS? As for me, I'm extremely excited about it! Before I saw any of the trailers I had zero interest and thought it was just another DS upgrade, but it really is a whole new system (it just looks similar). Graphics look great!

Anyone know how Korea is with the launch of new Nintendo systems?
The 3DS release for Japan is in February and for USA and EUR it is March at around $300.
When did the first DS or the Wii come out in Korea in relation to its Japan release?

Anyway, my DSLite is old and dying on me, can't wait till the 3DS comes out!

Generally speaking, way later.

DS Lite Japan: March 2, 2006
DS Lite Korea: January 18, 2007

Wii Japan: December 2, 2006
Wii Korea: April 26, 2008

If you're really dying to get it though, the Japanese models will show up in places like Yongsan within days of the Japanese release... with slightly inflated prices of course.

Mark me down for 'Not Interested'. I really just can't get into DS games. I tried, I really did, but the games, graphics, and interface just feels clumsy to my uncoordinated sausage fingers. I also tend to prefer much more mature titles, few of which really catch my eye on the DS.

Also my Xbox 360, PS3, World of Warcraft characters, and Angry Birds on the iPad take up far too much attention already.

I'm kind of interested. I wonder if it will be as easy to pirate games for it as it is for the DS.

I actually started physically shaking with excitement when I saw that they were planning on revamping Ocarina of Time to take advantage of the 3D capabilities.

Let's hope not.

Yeah, the DS, the absolute best selling video game system of all time, was certainly devastated by piracy. Rolling Eyes

I find it interesting that the two easiest to hack/mod systems - the DS and the Wii, have the fewest worthwhile games to pirate.

Lol! Keen observation.

Lots and lots of shovelware, indeed. Although I feel that the Wii has the strongest exclusives.

Why does a game system (or any business or individual) need to be devastated for theft to be considered wrong? I definitely think all games should have demos available, but I think I'm fairly safe in assuming that 99% of the folks out there with an R4 aren't just testing downloaded games before supporting the developers with a purchase.

I fully realize we're entering the realm of pure opinion now, but I did a lot of review-lurking before deciding to buy a DS over a PSP. Over two years later, I'm still happy with my decision. There's are tons and tons of great DS games out there (IMO more than the PSP many times over), but many of them don't get the recognition they deserve. There's also quite a few out there that aren't exclusive to the DS but just plain play much better on the system because of its dual screens and/or touch screen capabilities (two off the top of my head, Sim City and Puzzle Quest).

It's bound to come down. It's only out in Japan at this point, so that's an import price. I'm expecting 300,000 once they come out here for reals. I just want it now. Noooooooow

Might be worth a trip to Japan. You'll get it much cheaper, and a vacation.

First off, if the 460,000 won figure is accurate, I'm not paying that for a handheld.

That said, I am somewhat worried about Nintendo's recent threats to seek to brick the DS's of pirates may result in legitimate customers getting bricked, so I'll stand back and see.

Besides, my DS still has some life left, especially after the pickup of Pokemon Black. (And yeah, I know some will mock, but the games have some interesting RPG elements to them)
