Most yoga actually is not so good for you. Too many poses are done in each class or videos and this makes parts of the students brain to control the body too much.

Modern people need to learn to let go and allow the body to be in a relaxed state.

Most yoga courses teach people to think control is more important than letting go. Meditation is better or courses of yoga that combine meditation and gentle yoga. Junk like power yoga and hot yoga are gimmicks to make fads to get more people in the door.

Most modern people are addicted to adrenaline and are scared to relax so they seek out classes that pump them up rather than relax them.

Be careful not to choose the wrong video.

Not quite sure about this post. For one thing, your brain controls every move your body makes, whether voluntary or involuntary. For another thing I don't want to do yoga so I can channel my energy to my third eye or find myself. I want to do it for flexibility and strength and maybe stress relief. As for too many poses - not sure why that is a problem. I wouldn't pay for a class or video just so I could sleep on a mat for 45 minutes. The classes you were talking about like power yoga are not meant to be traditional meditative yoga. People who take the classes know that. Whether they are a fad or not doesn't matter. People who are worried about their chakras or healing energy know which classes to take.

Lets just say the average person understands very little about how the human body functions.

Lets just say that I understand a lot about how the human body functions.

Its a complicated thing and when I try to write warnings to people about yoga they tend to get upset.

This is because yoga has got into the place of being accepted by many people.

They dont know enough to actually judge it for themselves.

It gives them short term benefits so they think it is good.

In my job I get to see the damage that it causes- so I warn people just out of caring for people in general.

Then idiots attack as people do when you go against their myths or beliefs.

Did I say the whole brain? no I said parts.- yoga can put the wrong parts in charge.

You are saying that yoga gives felexibilty, strength and stress relief? I n the long run most methods cause the opposite effect because the person stretches the tension out of the muscles and the central processing units in the brain cant find the tension so a imbalance grows between the muscles and bones.

Worst part is the nervous system which can do fine by itself in a relaxed state never gets back into that state and the yogi has a false state of relaxation that is based on not facing up to their tension. Quite similar to people who smoke dope to suprress their tension but really are are not relaxed.

Sleep on a map for 45 minutes? I like how you mix up meditation and gentle movements as being sleep which shows you dont understand the subject matter to a deep degree.

The public does not know what they are taking. Problem is yoga teachers do a friggin weekend workshop and on Monday they are a yoga master.

As an expert I can tell you most yoga is bad unless it is combined with meditation and it is very gentle.

The watering down that happens with short training courses and changing it to appeal to people that are addicted to stress that look for short term methods of escape rather than long term startegies towards health.

Yoga should be about "union" of mind body and spirit . It should not be a way for your ego to push stress away so you can keep on being disconnected from your spirit.

Mind body and spirit meet in a very gentle quiet place. They dont meet in a high pressure stretching exercise designed to push tension away.

True yoga is finding tension , facing it. and getting the message from that.

Most yoga screws people up and disconnects them from their bodies and souls. Just adds more fuel for ego driven people to think they are in charge in their life.

Ah, but it sure does keep a body fit and a mind at peace.

Here's a decent one for beginner stuff:

Try to incorporate some pilates and your core will thank you.

+ 1

The 65 year old yoga instructor I had in India that was doing controlled handstands and had more energy than I did at 20 might disagree with Dr. Bullpoop

If by delusion you mean happiness and tranquility, then sure. I'm deluded into being happy. What a horrible thing!

Damned hippie. Every thread you join becomes tainted with your patchouli stench.
