Besides general information that one can find on such sites as Galbijim, the eslcafe search function and a random Google search, are there any other websites that contain any useful information on things to do/places to eat, drink and shop in the general Bundang/Yongin area?

If anyone's currently living in the area or has done at some point in the past I'd appreciate any info/tips you could give regarding restaurants/bars/grocery stores/clothing stores etc. I know Bundang is a rather large area, so I'm not really looking for info on a specific place. Any of the main spots in that area would be fine.

If anyone is new to the area and interested in exploring a little, then give me a shout.

Yongin is pretty dead in general, not much to do. Bundang is fairly peppy, its where you will go to hang out if you are in Yongin, bit easier to get back from then Seoul.

Yongin is pretty big, places to eat/shop in the "general Bundang/Yongin" area probably number in the millions.

I live in Bundang, at the Jeongja Station subway stop. It's a pretty high end area with a lot of really nice, but not overly expensive restaurants, and a few western ones as well (Quiznos, Dunkin Donuts, Coldstone, and BK Sandwhiches (a fantastic Subway clone)).

It's very easy to get into the city, but the 40 minute or so trip gets a little annoying after a while.

I don't think it's a great place to be if you want to party, but that isn't my scene, so I don't mind at all. There are still a few cool places to get a drink or two if you want.

Overall, I can't see myself wanting to live anywhere else. You are close enough to the city, but still have a little bit of a small town feel.

Thanks for those replies. My question is a little vague, but in terms of people's favourite places to shop, eat, drink, work out etc..I'd welcome any suggestions and directions, regardless of where they are in Bundang.

My four favorite places to eat close to Jeongja Station....

BK Sandwiches - Former Subway that is even better now. It's on Cafe Road. Head out exit 4 from the station, turn left onto the little road and keep going straight until you get to a stoplight. Turn right at the light and walk straight for 3 or 4 blocks. It will be on your right.

Daily King's Diner - Same directions as getting to BK, except, after you turn right at the stoplight, go up to the top floor of the second building. Great burgers and such.

Chicken Bibimbap place (not sure what it's called) - Best bibimbap I've tried, but it is a little different from the normal stuff. Go straight out of exit 4. It's right across the little road from the station plaza, next to a GS25.

Tulbo Family - The best mandu I've had in Korea. Go out exit 4, and go left at the road, turn right onto the pedestrian street right after Starbucks. Walk for 3 or 4 blocks (including one very big one). It's on your left right after an Aden Coffee and has the mandu cookers outside the restaurant.

Din Tai Fung is a great international Taiwanese chain with a branch in Bundang (one of four in Korea). They have Shanghainese soup dumplings (the soup is inside the dumpling) and amazing braised beef noodle soup. I haven't been to the one there, but every other one I've been to has been amazing, and the prices are really reasonable. I don't know where the Bundang one is, but their card says the phone number is 031-705-2778.

I'm pretty sure there's also a Suji's Deli somewhere in Bundang, a great place to go for breakfast, pastrami, and burgers.

I live in Yongin (Dongbaek-dong). The other posters were right, it is pretty quiet, but during the week that's okay by me. When we want to go out on the weekends, my friends and I are usually in Seohyeon. There are a number of good bars there. One of the other foreign teachers in my village lived and worked in Migeum for two years and she's pretty happy in our town now. We're only 40 minutes from Gangnam and twenty from Migeum/Ori. I like Bundang a lot, if I stay in Korea, that is where I would like to work.

Bundang has plenty going on to be honest......There are 3 foreigner bars in Seohyeon, Dublins, Pub210 and (the best) Travelers Bar. There's plenty of events etc going on in the area from drama clubs, sports, themed nights, take your pick.

Yatap is home to the bus terminal that has buses travelling all over Korea.

There are many E-marts and Homeplus stores to food shop. There's EVERY type of restuarant too, from VIPs/Outback/seafood buffet/indian/chinese/vietnamese etc!

Anyone know how long it takes by bus from the Jukjeon/Ori area to Kangnam, and which bus to take?

Seoyheon is one of the hot spots like they mentioned above. I really like the food at Travelers (www.travelersbar.com) and open mic night there and Dublins. Also if you are on FB, check out the Bundang Social Club for activities.

As for the bus, there are a few that come and go from this area, sorry I can't remember them all except for the M4102 which leaves from Migeum so should stop at Ori area somewhere too. In my opinion the buses to Gangnam take just as long as the 40 minute subway ride although some people say it shaves off a few minutes.

If you have an ipod touch or iphone there are apps for Korea subway and buses once you learn how to read Korean characters.
