Calling Aussies and other Socceroos supporters. We'll be getting together to cheer on the Socceroos in Brazil over the next few weeks and we'd love to see as many of you out there as possible (despite the awful game times!).

Join the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/124847471035367/ (Socceroos Supporters in Korea 2014 World Cup) for event details, kicking off this Saturday morning.

There aren't many of us here, so let's band together and support our boys!

It should be a great first game at least, and will set the tone for the rest of the matches.

Australia may be lowly ranked, but has a history of upsets against the big teams. Regardless, any aussies out there that are gonna be watching it may as well come and join us and have a good time together eating bacon, steak, eggs and beer in the morning!

Go the Socceroos!

Australia got robbed in 2006 against Italy. I'm not saying the Socceroos would've necessarily won but that horrible penalty call late in the game reeked of corruption.

Giving this a bump to get it in the eyes of as many Aussies as possible.

Come on Aussies! Come out and celebrate. We don't all get together often, so let's make an effort for the World Cup!

Check out the link for the Facebook group in the OP. Group admins are on it to quickly accept join requests, then you can check out the event details. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

*And yes, 2006... sigh...

Late notice, but we're watching tonight at Sam Ryan's in Itaewon. If you can make it out we hope to see you there!

Doesn't Australia, much like NZ or USA, value soccer about as low on the sport totem poll as say, something like speed skating.

I'm hoping that Australia or the U.S. get the 2022 World Cup if and when Qatar is stripped of the hosting rights. I think a U.S. WC will be far more popular and profitable but Australia has never hosted it and perhaps it's time Down Under gets it.

Yes and no. Saxons and Celtics don't care much for soccer. Not enough bone-jarring tackles, I think. But, post WW2 continental emigraes love it with passion. Italians, Greeks, Yugoslavs, etc push their children into soccer. Proof in point: Largest crowd ever drawn by the Greek national side, 90,000, happened in Melbourne, Australia. Around 40,000 of them were estimated to be Greek supporters.

Doesn't Melbourne have the second highest Greek population of any city in the world? Only beaten by Athens.
